Christianity Mod r1.7.0
================

Premise
-------
In its early history the Catholic Church was more heavily influenced by women
such as Mary Magdalene. As a result, equality is the norm for Catholics. Women
can hold council positions and lead armies without restriction, and may enter
the clergy. This Church's views on sex evolved in the reverse of its
historical counterpart: lust is a virtue, and chastity is one of the seven
deadly sins.

Whores are held in high esteem, and clergywomen are very likely to be whores.
Incest is accepted as normal, but doesn't have the Zoroastrian divine blood
belief. Concubines are also allowed. Adultery is looked on as generally good
because it shows a woman's desirability, but rulers may choose to discourage it
in their wives to avoid succession problems.

Installation
------------
To install this mod, follow these steps:
1. Open your "Documents" folder.
2. Locate the "Paradox Interactive" folder within your "Documents" folder and open
it.
3. Locate the "Crusader Kings II" folder within the "Paradox Interactive" folder
and open it.
4. Locate the "mod" folder within the "Paradox Interactive" folder and open it.
5. Copy the "Christianity Mod" folder and the "Christianity Mod.mod" file
located in the same folder as this readme to the "mod" folder.

You will now see it in the list of mods when you run Crusader Kings II.

Game Mechanic Changes
---------------------
I greatly reduced the likelyhood of getting the inbred trait, as in real life
the danger of inbreeding comes from harmful recessive traits, which is already
handled by normal inheritable trait mechanics. The remaining low probability
simulates multiple bad recessive traits that wouldn't individually merit a game
trait eventually adding up.

I lowered the age of marriage to 12, as it was in medieval Europe, because I'm
not selling this and therefore don't need to give lip service to Victorian era
beliefs. The age of adulthood for purposes of guardianship and regency ending is
currently set at 16, as the idea of education lasting until 16 is deeply
embedded in the game.

Absolute Cognatic succession law is available for all Catholics, even tribes.
The mod uses custom history files to make about 75% of Catholic titles use
it, while the remaining 25% stick with their original laws. The affected titles
may start with female rulers. Note that West Francia and Lombardy retain their
original rulers and succession laws so as not to interfere with the Charlemagne
events, and Venice and Amalfi are also unaffected because merchant republics are
hardcoded to be ruled by men.

Note that the status of women laws, introduced in Conclave, are redundant
for Catholics who are effectively equivalent to the highest level at all times.
Consequently that law will not be visible for Catholic rulers. The Tolerance
tech level requirements for improving the status of women have been lowered to
reflect the influence of the numerous Catholics.

Compatibility
-------------
This mod requires version 2.7.x and the expansions other than Sunset
Invasion. It works fine with the Your Personal Castle mod, which is recommended.

The EUIV converter works fine for saves created with this mod.

This mod is not compatible with the CK2 Plus mod as it modifies religion to be
more historical, which is the opposite of what this mod does with religion.

Includes
--------
This mod was inspired by and is derived from nadamod, which in turn uses VIET,
Your Personal Castle, and Duel Engine. Nadamod also used a custom map and a law
mod which are not included here. I've separated out the files from Your Personal
Castle as well--anyone wishing to use that mod should install the regular
released version. As of version 1.6 of this mod I've removed the Duel Engine
files as well. Duel Engine stopped working a while ago, and is no longer being
supported, so the files were just taking up space but not actually getting used.

Known Bugs
----------
* Free investiture is hardcoded to only allow men to be nominated as
successors. This is a known limitation which Paradox will hopefully change.
* Only men can take concubines. This is a hardcoded limitation that I can't do
anything about.
* Some characters are created as adults by the game engine and can't be modded
directly. The event that gives women their curves will trigger for women created
this way eventually, but it can take up to six months. This is for performance
reasons, and I may adjust the frequency later.
* Catholic rulers get the "liege is jain" opinion modifier with their vassals,
which greatly increases realm stability. This is an engine bug that gives the
opinion modifier based on a religion's "pacifist" parameter being set to "yes",
as it is for Catholicism in this mod. In the base game, Jain is the only
pacifist religion.

Nice to see an update.

A little issue I noticed: The seduction focus is not available to Monks and Nuns. You probably want to change this.

(Look in common/scripted_triggers/00_scripted_triggers.txt and search for is_ascetic_trigger, if you want to remove monks and nuns from being ascetic. On the other hand, if you want to allow all ascetic type characters to pick seduction, edit common/objectives/00_focuses.txt instead.)

It would be realy nice if there was an ingame decision to forbid certain character groops (e.g. your wife and concubines, close family, whole dynasty or non-clerical vassals) from becoming whores and/or using whores.

Being forbidden from whoring or being forced to wear a chasity belt could also be a punishment for criminals.

Thanks for the bug report! I'll update it so that Catholic monks and nuns can use the seduction focus.

Sorry, but that doesn't really fit the concept of the mod.

I believe there is a chastity belt mod that at least cuts it down on the daughters.

I understand that about the punishment part but since discouraging adultery in your wife for succession reasons is part of the mods premise I thought stopping her and other in similar position from whoring would fit.

I know there is an option to ask someone to stop being a whore but I had a few of those characters restart whoring immedeatly after they stopped.

Got a event pop-up that made my female character lose the lustful trait while being in the Benedict order.  Its a vanilla event since the text claimed that it was a good thing. Obviously this contradicts the order.

Edit: going back in vanilla localization for MonksAndMystics. It is this event description #EVTDESC_4400_REMOVE_LUSTFUL

Ever since I installed this mod, every child that is ever born to anyone, is married to some random lady.  Doesn't matter what gender the child is, they are married to some random lady.

Please try running just Christianity Mod, without any other mods. If you're still seeing this problem, please provide more details.

Not in my mod there isn't.

Thanks for the report. I'll fix it so that characters lose chaste instead.

I'm noticing a slight variation to this issue.  Astarus, in Spain at the early start is all women rulers and they are married to other women.  Italy and a few other catholic countries have the same issue.  Their ruler's gender has swapped to female for some strange reason.  Not sure if that's intentional or not.

I do not have this issue when not running the Christianity Mod so it is either the mod itself or it conflicting with another mod causing the issue.

I am pretty sure that is intentional. It was in all previous versions of the mod.

Thanks beepbepe.

First time I'm running the actual mod.  I always got to cheat because Toska included much of the structure in his mod.  He has since removed it with his society based remake.

There are supposed to be lots of female rulers around, but they're supposed to be either unmarried or married to men. The mod includes a set of history files (where rulers are defined) which override the base game--among other things, replacing many male rulers with women. The history files are generated using a script written by MeMe, and when a male ruler is converted to a woman it's supposed to also convert his wife into a man. I never noticed that it wasn't working (which shows how often I play in Asturias), but I'll add it to my list of bugs to fix. Unless MeMe happens to read this and beats me to it...

Another find about the Wol.55 event. Where you catch a couple in flagrante. Only thing you get is vanilla options.

If its incest, well I think you should get a different option. Maybe join in if you're related to them also. Or at least the incest flag should be removed. Or instead of saying "Unholy sinners they must be exposed!!" Maybe something like "Praise the holy slut! This great deed must be exposed." This way they get the incestuous adultress/adulterer bonus.

name = EVTOPTA_WOL_55_UNHOLY # Expose the unholy sinners!
        trigger = {
            OR = {
                has_character_flag = scandal_temp_incest
                has_character_flag = scandal_temp_m_homo
                has_character_flag = scandal_temp_f_homo
                has_character_flag = scandal_temp_priest
            }

Also when the court chaplain offers herself for the great feast. And you say yes, christ.007 doesn't seem to fire off. I only had one person refuse. Im pretty sure there were men in the feast.

Ok, tested it with just Christianity mod.  Every child born to anyone in the game, be it yours or someone else.  Is born married to some random woman, of different religion usually in their 20s.  Doesn't matter if the child is male or female, soon as they are born(Age 0), they are married to some random woman.

It does convert the new ruler's wife into a man, but then has to make sure that people with two parents have a father and a mother. That puts some 20-30 wives of female rulers across all of history, but they're typically well hidden. I figured that it was preferable to randomly discarding parental information.

Besides, these Catholics seem like the types to celebrate bisexuality anyways... turning down the same sex could be considered chastity and outright lusting for them a virtue. Since there are patron saints for everything I'd be surprised if there's not a patron saint of lady lust, and people who emulate her. Mary Magdalene comes to mind... change the repentant prostitute into a repentant lesbian who embraces lust for all and you've got yourself a story!

I haven't been able to reproduce this. What version of CK2 are you using? Do you have all the DLC?

WoL.1150 in wol_lover_events also needs work, I've always turned it off for Catholics in my games but it could also be changed to fit. Not having enough time for all your lovers is a real problem, but they're not secret affairs for Catholics and shouldn't stress them out for having more than one.

Yeah for that I always used the console command to remove the stress trait. When I get that event. Its the easiest way to fix that.
