(looking for ideas) What player can do in an asylum ?

Hi

For the reworking of Skeevers on the wall, I also wish to add and Asylum to Skyrim.

So, player could be in that asylum as guard (and get a quest), or... as a patient... (yes, this mod will take count of player sanity... and some monsters like the Hound or Arach Aboth will reduce it quickly...).

What will be the activites of the player in this establisment ? I'm looking for ideas...

Thanks in advance.

As guard: Escort guests to their relatives (guarding them from violent patients), subdue violent patients, inspect cells (find the weapon hidden in the cell/room). Search for an escapee.

As patient: Help other patients (fetch them something that keeps them sane), help the nurses/doctors (clean rooms, get collect the dishes).

So far for the relatively normal/nice things I can think of.

Stop the Joker.

What ?

Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Let's get to the nasty stuff. Asylum patients who are trying to rape the staff (nurses, guards), later eating them, killing them, maybe some necro. If the PC is a guard, then his job is to stop the patients. But obviously there should be some twists, like for example the most calm patient later turns out to be the worst, and the most messed up, etc.

The obvious one to me as a patient would be to escape.

As a guard, maybe take advantage of the patients. Or spy on them while they have sex/masturbate.

Or maybe you could go undercover as a patient or a guard to get evidence of something bad happen or to break someone out.

As a patient:

Group therapy (trigger wait for a few hours in order to simulate it), help the insane gods of skyrim by spreading a idea/concept between patients or fight it, join guard in desperate fights to contain unholy creatures, survive the maddening night while bound in a straighjack/armbinder and heavy chains.

As a guard:

Pat downs, lock dangerous inmates in restraining gear or furniture, recover itens from monstrosities summoned from the dead bodies of patients to give'em back to loved ones, combat otherwordly corruption by channeling magic, lie to the families about the reason that a patient died in order to stop people from searching for answers and going insane, stop eager adventurers from messing with inmates and freeing abominations upon the word.

For both: Escape a nightmarish dream in time in order to recover some sanity or die and start seeing things.

"Raping each other" sums up the Skyrim mods over here pretty well. Isn't this getting boring after a while?!

As a guard you've got to sleep in a bed and wake up by screams and on researching you see bloodstains leading to the basement. Underneath the Asylum you find 2 nurses and a guard. One crazy patient necromancer who talks to ghosts has set up a trap and the player gets knocked out and is undressed/bound/whatever and put in a hole. He has to some crazy shit (fight a nurse, drink a poison and have a trippy experience with some weird shit going on). in the end of the quest sees that Sheogorath is behind it.

Link to comment

Yes, rape of course, but i'm really a bit unimpressed by the ideas here... with madness, there are so many possibilities.

I guess a visit by Sheogorath would fit his taste of humor. He sends the player through a kind of Labyrinth, playing with over/undersized architecture and NPCs (a bit like Alice in Wonderland). Long stairs with a door at the end which leads to the door at the bottom of the stairs. Some puzzles to solve, maybe a bit Lovecraft style, imho your strong side. :)

That would imho work for both patients and guards.

With Sheogorath you never know, maybe you think that you're a guard in a uniform while you're actually not, that's why every dialogue seems weird. Or the other way around. Or it switches every time you go through a door. Evil (giant) chickens and rabbits who try to kill you. Falmers who offer you beer and food. I guess there is no way to put a werewolve into gweldas red riding hood, but i would love it. ;)

Maybe a werewolve collecting carrots, it's always good to have your favorite food at stock. He will let you try one... with your butt. The carrot might serve as key (maybe you can convince VirginMarie to give you the animation for the anal skeleton key, in her mod you can unlock doors with your butt if it's "equipped"). Or it's a mage staff to fight the evil chickens.

Monsters who can't see you if you're blindfolded.

Getting/beeing mad and kill "monsters" which are actually friends(or at least innocent humans) when they are dead (black out after the fight and replace the corpses?), getting drugged and hallucinate of beautiful dancers, dance/fuck with beautiful dancers who are actually monsters.

Experiments by evil (vampire?)doctors/alchemists/guards (skyrimLLs parasites might be useful here, and/or Skooma whore drugs, and/or some furniture mods... and/or more amputations. ;)

Or experiments to replace amputations with anything... not necessarily successful.

*edit: as a guard: convince/blackmail/drug & convince patients to do stuff, rape or fight each other, clean the floors, prevent them from killing each other, serve them food (but beware, did you ever hear of that mad troll the doctor wants to treat?), start a romance (with Sheogoraths wife).

edit: to clarify, possible animation work that would end up as my problem.

---

There is no need for great choice I think for the Dragonborn as a patient, ill-intentioned people lock it up in the asylum and the more it claims its innocence, the more on the considered crazy, this kind of situation makes crazy at the end For a moment, what is legitimate that she is in an asylum in the end ... hehehehe.

Dragonborn as a caregiver / caregiver? Pay attention to ... monsters? We study their behavior and their damage damage if they were to escape eh?

She may also have to hunt down a mentally challenged criminal? It can be the twist of the beginning, on the spear in pursuit of a bandit completely crazy (after level pathologies and choice!) And she may have had to keep in the asylum ... At least in the beginning. Do you attach yourself afterwards?

I hope I left you some tracks.

Yes, just rape and sex begins to be boring... good mods need context.

The asylum will be integrated into Skeevers in the Wall redone, as a Novel.

In that mod, player will loose sanity (specially if she meets the Hound, become cattle in Skeevers in the Wall, or meet Arach Aboth or the Wind Walker).

I keep it too... Skeevers in the Wall and other novels will be a mod about lovacraftian novels... so, the asylum is weird as all the other novels.

So, If I resume :

The radiant little stuff in the Asylum

- as guard : player will see other guards abuse patients. Keep patients quiet, beware of fight, drugs, etc...

- as patient : beware of guards, and experiments... and suby your therapy (in middle age, therapy is drugging mostly...)

The main quest in the Asylum

- Dragonborn in Wonderland (Nyarlahotep / Sheogorath quest).

- dark rituals (a strange patient who will trap the dragonborn)...

How to enter in the Asylum as patient :

- player lost his sanity, and being forced to integrate the asylum by folllowers or guards.

- a short quest for accuse the Dragonborn to be mad...

Glad you like it. :)

I would concentrate on Skeevers in the wall for now, and hopefully the Devious Devices team publishes the next stable version until you're finished with that. The straightjacket looks really awesome, and it would fit soooo good in this mod, but i think using a dev version as requirement is not a good idea. And i would really like to see a mod where it makes sense to use the "fight with hands bound" option from DDi, against some weak enemies. In my usual games i play on legendary difficulty... even wolves are pretty hard then if you can't use weapons or spells, only your feet.

A straitjacket is currently being developed for DDx if I recall correctly. It could fit quite well with an Asylum mod.

As for some ideas, activities for the player (patient), I may have some ideas:

1. Recieving "medication"

To keep the patients in line, they are often given narcotics to keep them calm and compliant. These "medicines" often cause the player to trip out and see weird things (could make use of Skooma Whore).

2. Being abused

Being bound and helpless in a padded room makes you an easy target for some of the more nasty guards. Sometimes a guard could come by your cell and rape you.

3. Being led out

Sometimes you, and the other patients, are led to an outdoor (but fenced off) area to catch a breath of fresh air. During this time you can explore a little bit, talk to some other patients, maybe plot an escape?

4. Slavery

A chance to be sold into slavery if you cause too much trouble (Simple Slavery tie in)

5. punishment

If you cause too much trouble (back talk, attacking staff, trying to escape, resisting treatments) you will be punished. Punishments can be anything, beatings, more bondage gear (gags, blindfolds), being put in an isolation cell etc.

6. Simply sitting in your padded room

Being put in an Asylum involves a lot of time simply doing nothing. In between activities you will just have to wait. (maybe add an option to disable waiting in an MCM menu)

7. psychological evaluation

On occasion you can recieve a psychological evaluation, basically one of the "doctors" would answer you a bunch of questions, the answers you give can lead to several outcomes. Giving good answers can lead to less medications and maybe even being led out of your straitjacket. Giving bad answers can lead to more medication and maybe even more bondage gear.

Just my 2 cents :)

Nice ideas for asylum radiant activities...

Does the straitjacket could be added as soft dependencie ?

I guess. It's not out yet anyway so you might be better off using other restraints in the meantime, like an Armbinder.

And why not as a patient to get into deeper hallucinations because our insanity?

(J'avais pensé en tant que patient de l'asile que notre personnage soit pris d'hallucination dû à sa démence, cela pourrait être des hallucinations horrifiques comme sexuelles peu importe?)

And what if asylum is actually daedric polygon for fun/experiments? I mean, patients/gueards/doctors are all part of experiment set up by one deadric prince (something like vault in fallout, you know). Therefore, different groups has different amount of sanity and actually see different things, based on amount of sanity accumulated. The more sanity - the more you see and know. And if you gain knowledge you cannot lose it. Thus, you can play with amount of sanity to trigger different events. The goal is to break plans of daedric prince (you choose whose it should be). You may gain/lost sanity by participating in events such as all sexual activities (reduce sanity) or listening to special dialogs, participating/peeping in/on rituals and therapy and reading doctors notes.

This is just canvas, if you like it, I can expand it more.
