Most Frustrating Bug Ever - CTD When Swinging A Weapon

Now before people give me a bunch of basic fixes....heres what I've already done.

 

I have FNIS I run it regularly any time I change or add an animation based mod.

 

I am using XPMSE. I am using Realistic Ragdolls and Force. I've reinstalled both twice.

 

I've verified my load order a million times, cleaned my mods, and run TES5Edit in that process.

 

I am replacing animations from a few sources.

 

Archery Gameplay Overhaul is replacing all bow related combat and movement.

 

YY Mystic Knight is replacing all other combat.

 

I'm using RandomIdleAnimation.

 

Sexlab and its component animations work fine with no errors, all installed Sexlab mods have no errors.

 

I can walk, swim, sprint, jump run and block and have no issues....but the minute I swing my right hand weapon...the game instantly CTDs.

 

I've been able to get rid of it, but not consistently, by reinstalling Realistic Ragdolls and Force and XPMSE and running FNIS...but it seems to creep back in somehow even without the installation of any other animation based mods.

 

I've manually uninstalled 1h attack animations and had similar results using BSA based defaults, I also have installed combat overhaul sounds like Better Swing Sounds in hopes that for some reason a mod I'd installed was referencing a missing weapon swing sound and that was the issue...and I've gotten no result from that.

 

So in summary:

1. The animations I'm using have never been problematic before
2. I am using all the relevant requirements to use custom animations
3. I have modified weapon sounds to try to reduce a potential sound crash
4. More complex animation systems like Sexlab cause no errors
5. The problem resolves randomly when reinstalling skeleton and ragdoll physics but doesn't resolve for good.

Has anyone ever seen this kind of bug? I hate to get stuck reinstalling Skyrim again, I just recently reinstalled it to clean out my old pre 2K15 mods and increase visual fidelity and this is the only time I've ever had the game just flat out shut down when swinging a sword. And since I'm a pretty competent user...the fact that I've been unable to find a permanent resolution to this is driving me insane.

 

EDIT to add: Sometimes I can swing two or three times and then it crashes....it just happened now while I was testing with a couple non-animation mods removed while trying to isolate where the issue comes from.

Makes sure nothing overwrites xpmse skeleton accept for fnis generated files only! And when it has the option for what rig you want in the installed choose the default. Realistic ragdolls should be above xpmse.

I use NMM, my installs are pretty complicated so I prefer to keep the mod interface simple.

I haven't allowed any skeletal overwrites, Realistic Ragdolls gets sorted about 10 mods up from my XPMSE esp, which I think is close enough given nothing else between it and XPMSE is affecting skeletal nodes....but I'll move it down under DynDoLod and above XPMSE and try that.

I use the Skeletal Arm Fix patch, Archery Gameplay Overhaul and TK Dodge's patches in FNIS.

If you remember exactly the first time it happen you might track the last mod you installed. At least that's what i did.

 

Also, might an issue with scripted mod that apply when you swing your weapon. Though idk if there is OnSwing or something like that, might try to disable any mod related to combat. Check your log too.

Very hard to determine where this started but I do know the crashes aren't captured in my Papyrus logs, my last log is from 3/11/2016 and I literally just crashed testing a dagger swing ten minutes ago.

 

This is on a completely restarted game too with no orphaned scripts in the save.

Once upon a time..

 

I had this mod that was bugged. I can't remember the name but it would CDT a lot. I could not enter Bloated Man's Grotto and some other dungeons without it either Freezing up or CDT.. I didn't pay attention to installing stuff so I started over. I installed some basic mods and tested it then kept adding in mods until it crashed and this mod was not even related to trees but effected the trees inside the grotto.

 

About the only real solution would be to do so.

Terrariums Sexy Voice Replacer was the cause. I had to go through and do a one by one uninstall of the last week or so of mod installs to boil it down. I'd forgotten that I'd installed it to try it out. The occasional lack of crash was probably due to the player not voicing during a few swings.

 

Anyways I'm sure it probably works on less complex installs but with me having around 500 mods installed and near to max plugins it doesn't seem to play nice.

Interesting to hear because I just downloaded that haven't tested it out yet so if I start getting crashes then at least ill know the cause.
