How port armor,clothing from other games!

In general, it means installing some 3d program that allows to import the format used by the first game and allows to export in a format used by the second game.

 

In the old Fallouts, Blender 2.49 was one of the most used programs.

 

So, if you decide to use it, the first thing to do would be understanding if Blender can read the format from that other game. If it doesn't, you should look if there's a script to install that does it, or use a third party program to convert in a readable format.

 

After that, the imported model must be tweaked and rigged on Fallout's skeleton, but it can't be described in details because it depends by the model you imported.

It's a long and complicated process.. longer and more complicated than refining crude oil from naperian whale blubber...

It starts with Blender, Niskope, and reading some tutorials. You'll also need .vtf plugin and .mdl plugins for your respective Image editor and model viewer/editor.

Actually depends more on what game you are doing it for. With skyrim all you need Gerra6's pose converter to change a fallout 3/nv pose to a skyrim pose then load the nif into outfit studio and adjust the outfit and body to fit. Oblivion same thing except that you have to export the outfit parts out in .OBJ format and then load them into outfit studio and scale and adjust the body and outfit to fit. Other files that come in .xps .generic item mesh can be loaded into blender and adjusted and posed to work with the skyrim body.

It's a long and complicated process..

Not a long time ago I've read about someone copying a file from a game folder to another game folder, expecting that this was working out of the box, he was surprised when it didn't.

When we realize that these things exist and we put ourselves on this perspective, then yes I agree, it IS complicated. It also could say a lot about how users are so often demanding without realizing how much time usually is needed for a modder to make even the smallest thing.

... But still, creating a brand new model is definetely harder... I'd say that's the main reason why there are so many ports or copy pasted mashups / recolors...
