SSE Criticism Thread Reloaded

Recommended Posts

We're starting this thread to keep the criticism of SSE out of the factual, modding-related threads. For the reasoning behind that, see the OP of the old thread we created for the same purpose.

The old one was closed because when we said, time and again, that insults weren't allowed, people assumed we couldn't possibly be serious. We are. Not allowed. No matter who you are and what you think, no matter who you're reacting to and what they're saying. Don't.

As before, we don't care one bit about what you have to say about SSE, so go wild with that.

Unlike before, any personal attacks will be dealt with as soon as we're aware of them. To clarify even further:

- calling people stupid, blind or whatever else for disagreeing with you: not allowed

- telling people to get out of the thread: not allowed

- responding to people with 'butthurt' or 'ur autistic' memes: not allowed, grow up

- no exceptions so that means you too

Just reading that to myself makes me groan. As a community, we can, have to, and will do better.

That said, exiting preach mode: try and have a good time.

The real problem with old one people who where considered pro bethesda where budging even though the title says SSE critism maybe also make a SSE non critism so those who are cosnidered pro Bethesda dont get this one closed aswell.

Or change the tile to Bethesda fanboy and this one Betheda non fanboy. :P

Not really.

We don't want fanboys or haters.

Criticism is OK, we are just going to remove, immediately, insults.

Promise.

The previous thread was barely modded. This one is already tracked and watched.

Well that is good hear, i tried to stay out of the other thread after i saw to many personal attacks happening witch does not really answer any critism towards Skyrim SSE. Maybe this will be better right now there is still some stuff not right with SSE. so allot of critism are well justified.

-

  • broken meshes
  • no lighting engine update
  • dynamic lights bug still exist
  • CK64 still laggy
  • animations needs to be redone to 64format
  • piss filter
  • terrible bokeh
  • horrific UI and in-game mod browser/load order manager
  • focus on consoles not really on PC community
  • LOD bugs still there
  • weird fallout4 shaders that prevent ENB from reaching the Oldrim level of potential

+

  • godrays XD
  • new water flow system
  • quick loading screens
  • fixed mfg console
  • nicer LOD
  • fixed distance mountain flickering
  • better performance with more npc around
  • reshade but its not quite good as enb, because it only affect post-procc effects unlike enb which it affects everything directly in the game itself

Probly forget about some stuff

The only thing I'll put on the plus list is engine stabilty, every other thing in there -both on the - and + side- is walking dangerously between the mediocre sucess and the scandalous failure :P That's my honest opinion, even I consider myself pro-sse (read Pro-er, no fanboy).

ENB is a different beast because it doesn't really have nothing to do with the game so...it matter for us as pc players (most of the time even more than any mod) but it's not really a broken feature on this revision that was intended for consoles anyway. Could it been done it better? (or better said, done good) ofc, but that's the industry for you.

We will see how SE will run with 250 mods + enb, skse and plenty of papyrus scripts running in the back.

Right now comparing game stabillity is uhm, default Skyrim with no mods ( or 5 mods ) runs fine

Welp, you could take an example already, open cities (known as a very demanding, conflictive and often unstable mod for the old engine) works better in Newrim than it does in Oldrim, so that's a promising start. But I'm positive the shit's gonna crash when the big mods comes anyway, no doubt.

So to be clear, everyone before seemed to be under the impression that this thread is meant for criticizing beth in a bad way. Is this thread also for promoting beth for doing something good? Because that had been the big divide in the old thread. Many people, myself included, just wanted to have a relaxed conversation talking about what beth had done wrong. Many people weren't interested in things they did right. Then people started coming in trying to convince us that sse was in fact a good game. So is this thread meant specifically for talking about sse's faults, or is it supposed to be neutral where we are also expected to talk about what it did right?

I think this part sums it up good:

So what happened in the other thread wont happen in this one.

Open cities working now has nothing to with script or engine changes and everything to do with memory allocation. Any mod that was 'too big' for 32 in terms of memory footprint will obviously work better in 64 for rather mundane reasons.

The trick is how well scripty barfing OnEvent instance 15 cloaks for every npc at all times mods will fare, and with no SKSE,  so far the very limited answer is just as badly as 32.

To me Skyrim is ASSS.

Aether Suite Sex Simulator.

If and when all the mods i use and can't live without for 'Oldrim' get ported/updated to 'Newrim' its just gonna be called ASSSE, Aether Suite Sex Simulator Edition.

See i got bored of playing Skyrim, i do own all the DLCs and can get SSE free, but as I've said before in other posts, I've only completed main quest once or twice, done the first 10mins of Dawnguard, and never set foot in Solstheim.

Same can be said about FO4, my first FO game i played, i quickly got bored of it too.

"Then why play 'Beth' games at all" i hear you ask,...... because i love modding the hell out of them.

Which here lies the problem/criticism i have for SSE.

This should have been a 'patch' way back when they first ported Skyrim to 64bit, when FO4 was being worked on.

"But,.. but it would have broke all the mods",  ha, they were already doing that with their patches and DLCs.

I've changed/modded so much to the game, that moving over to SSE is gonna be a hell of a chore, that i don't think i can be assed to do.

Its not gonna be as simple as downloading all the updated mods i use.

I've changed everything from the base game or to these mods i use, were either they maybe the meshes, textures, scripts, esms, esps, shit ton of stuff in CK, 3DS, Photoshop, etc, even Aether Suite I've changed alot of the rooms and added my own 'special' rooms, amongst other stuff, all this over the course of 3 years.

While some of what I've changed can be a simple drag n drop, but certainly not all of it.

Like i said this should've been a patch way back when and they could have done a 'True' Remaster and charged full price for it.

i moved to se , after 3 years in old skyrim

the big problem with old skyrim is stability ( i have play more then 100 h without ctd but some time it ...)

i have do test

- SG hair + KS hair only with old skyrim and SE + 800 hair

old skyrim Ctd is you switch hair rapidly ( press -> and hold ) ( and with memory patch (skse+enbboost .....) i have ctd

skyrim Se no ctd i go from 1-800 and 800-1

- the lag in skyrim about 60 % in SE about 20% ( i have i5 4th +gtx 970 + 12go play with twealed ini and at 1360x768 hd screen)

- load of save the most bug in old skyrim  (ctd and need load old save or save in close cell)

- fps drops yes is big poblem

skyrim for is best game even am old rpg gamer is just what i think with my poor experience

I knew there were people on the old thread that were getting out of hand. But to have to start a new thread? I wasn't seeing anything too inflammatory once I put some key members on Ignore. Must have been pretty bad. And after reading what DoctaSax posted about autism memes? That actually made me laugh. Hard. I have high-functioning autism (Asperger's syndrome) and personally I'm not that offended by the fact it happened. But it does reflect how willfully ignorant people are; you're on the Internet, it's not that hard to look up a few quick facts about the realities.

My main criticism is the same: it's just Oldrim with a new engine. Bethesda could have taken the time to address the complaints or incorporate features similar to the most popular mods (SkyUI, More Interesting NPCs, ELFX, etc.). Instead it's the same game with a "texture upgrade" that is still inferior to even Oldrim mods. I got my copy for free, and it's exactly what I expected it to be, so I'm not too upset about it. I just feel that people who are willing to buy it for $50+ are giving Bethesda more encouragement to release half-finished, uninspired games and rely on their fading reputation for past successes. Without real competition for open-world, sandbox-style RPGs that are easily modded, they're getting lazy and arrogant. SSE is the best example of this attitude.

OTOH it did inspire me to finally go back to school to study video game design and programming. Simply because I want to do something about this downward curve in games. With things like Kickstarter and Patreon it's easier than ever for independents to get their games out there and compete with major brands like Zenimax/BGS.

Seriously this. I have been saying from the beginning that sse, I kinda expected to be pretty shit. I am really just not wanting beth to turn into a pile of shit. Since elder scroll's main competition, fallout, is made by the same fucking company, the only way to make sure their "monopoly" doesn't end up getting away with whatever they want is for consumers to hold them accountable for bad practices.

Speaking of bad practices, what do you think about the new "featured mods support" they shoved in the latest beta? This screams "curated mod list" to me, and coupled with their attempts to shame modders who don't upload to Beth.net (not to mention the CK is only available there) really makes me think that their long-term goal is to outright control modding.

I may just be paranoid mind you, but my distrust for the game industry as a whole tends to be justified most of the time, which is rather sad.

I actually had the same premonition, but I also just assumed I was being being paranoid.

that's markarth worldspace, have just tfc out of the city

that ground under the ground look strange

161210063613764538.jpg

same thing you can see with broken meshes, or hdt (didn't check yet if it's the same with original skyrim or if that's from a mod)

found that somewhere under whiterun too (under the limit where you are teleport above, so finding what it is...)

Can I give advice?
Your answers are often correct - and often misunderstood. ;)
Less pictures and a little more explanation may be helpful, especially if the help-seeking is not an expert. Because if he was an expert, he would not need any help.

Your screens are thoughts, perhaps there is the possibility that others can not follow your thoughts.
Just as a hint. ;)
