Description:

 

This mod adds a custom playable shark race with fully animated headparts and total support for Vampirism.

 

The main race is intended for use with an UNP compatible body replacer for females, and with SOS Full for males. Includes native support for UUNP Special based bodies.

 

SOS for Females is also supported! Both the beast sheath schlong and the two humanoid ones included in the main plugin have native support for females. The sheath schlong is built for the original UNP body, but SevenBase, UNPB or similar bodies witha a groin area equal or close to UNP should work fine as well. CBBE is only supported for the humanoid schlongs, but not for the sheath.

 

Note that the mod includes a "No schlong for females" AddOn for SOS. The NPCs added by the follower plugin (male and female alike) that are supposed to have a specific schlong assigned depending on their backstory and lore will still have them, but other female characters not supposed to have it will automatically be assigned the "No Schlong" by SOS. The player character will be assigned one at random, including the "No Schlong" one if she is female. If you want to add (or remove) the schlong from your character, use SOS' MCM menu to manually assign the corresponding addon.

Race Information:

 

"Native to the shores and seas of Akavir, the Selachii are an amphibious race descended from feral sharks. Known for their talent as warriors and sailors, they are commonly hired by trading and mercenary companies alike, and they are rarely seen far from the sea or other bodies of water. Their thick skin and their claws give them an advantage in combat, and they are even known to use their jaws as deadly weapons against their foes."

--- Shark Race 3.40c - MAIN - Hotfix: fixes an issue with male heads having wrong shaders (resulting in a neck seam) and corrects the wrong SOS probability values for the Female No Schlong Addon. Install on top of the main file, saying "Yes" to overwriting. Required.

--- Shark Race 3.40- NPC Plugin (Vanilla): Same as above, but lacks the YA requirement and is meant for use with a vanilla setup instead. Requires Bad Dog's Hoodies.

Notes for Character creation:

 

--- Face tint sliders available: warpaint, lips, cheeks, cheek lower, forehead, eyeliner, eye socket upper, dirt.
--- Complexion slider will change between smooth and ridged head texture for males, and between default and fin-less head normal map for females (use the Facial Hair slider to remove fins to achieve this effect).
--- Facial hair slider will add and remove fins (with different ring styles) for females and males.

--- Slightly Less Crappy Swimming Animations by MadMansGun: replaces the vanilla swimming animations with (slightly) less crappy ones and also changes the tail anims during swimming so they are more fitting for a shark tail. Also works on Argonians.

--- Faster Book Animations by MadMansGun: there are several books included in the NPC plugin and they have plenty of content, so you may want to use this mod to speed things up whiel reading them.
--- Individualized Shout Cooldowns (SKSE Plugin) by kassent: to avoid other shout cooldowns preventing you from biting due to the Bite attack being considered a Shout.

 

Known Issues:

 

--- As a side-effect of the way RaceCompatibility works, some vanilla Argonian head parts will show up for the sharks. They can (and should) be safely ignored.

--- The HDT hairs tend to load up wrong the first time you select them in the race menu. Change to a different hair and back and they should work fine.

--- Likewise, HDT hairs can get spazzy during normal gameplay. I've tried my best to edit the XML and keep the spazzing to a minimum but it still happens, so beware.
--- The Shark Bite attack had to be classified as a Shout in order to be able to trigger the "biting" anim and to properly cast the spell. If you have any mod that is triggered by/checks for any kind of Shout (and not only vanilla ones), using the Bite may interfere with it.

--- Added new and improved female heads with matching morphs and extra parts.

--- Added new Akaviri/Blades-themed Selachii armor, in light and heavy versions with two variants each (craftable and upgradeable with the Steel Smithing and Advanced Armors perks). Bodyslide support included.

--- Removed the built-in Hoodies system. Now the Sheath Addon is optional and requires either Yiffy Age (via the Follower plugin) or the standalone Hoodies framework (via a separate Sheath plugin).
--- Overhauled the available SOS Addons. Now Human Cut and Uncut are separate options (also available for females) and probability settings have been tweaked.
--- Replaced the male Uncut schlong mesh with a modified VP Regular one similar to the Cut one.
--- Replaced the SOS underwear with BadDog's loincloth/fundoshi mesh.
--- Revamped the female Bodyslide files to match the new setup of separate Cut/Uncut addons.
--- Removed beast feet and replaced them with human ones. Females use whatever meshes are installed for all races, while males use built-in FemFeet Redesigned meshes.

--- Added new face normal maps created by Nightro. Two versions available in the "Complexion" slider: smooth/standard and with ridges around the eyes.
--- Added a fallback SOS underwear mesh to the male naked body. Now, the undies will show up as long as no schlong or anything else is equipped in Slot 52 while naked, effectively preventing the "Crotch hole bug".
--- Tweaked race data (skill bonuses, powers, etc.)

--- Follower plugin: added a new short quest to gain Moku as a potential follower and marriage candidate. You will now have to beat her in a brawl to gain the required relationship increase. Dialogue is all voiced using vanilla assets.
--- Follower plugin: changed Moku/Izma's voice from FemaleCommander to FemaleYoungEager. This will probably change in the future as well.
--- Follower plugin: added a new NPC, Loki. He's a Nord mage and Winterhold College student that can be found in the Hall of Attainment. He doesn't do anything apart from sandboxing at the moment. Note that since his human version is not done yet, he will be absent if using the vanillla/Non-YA plugin.

--- Updated both males and females with new textures and different looks.
--- Restored the original 3-toed clawed feet for males (similar to the female ones).
--- Updated the female body and hands normal maps to FSC 9.2.
--- Made minor improvements to SOS textures for males and females and blended them better with the new body textures.
--- Fixed the neck seam present on female heads. Should be a perfect match now (both mesh and texture-wise).

Ahh, thanks for this. Just one question though, the first version of the sharkmer race required a esp to make it use the skeleton you had already chosen.(It had it's own skeleton, unfortunately.><) Now that you've technically made it so that it uses yours(I think so anyway, most everyone uses XPMSE), do I not need that default skeletons esp anymore?

Nope, the mod already comes with an up-to-date XPMSE skeleton with the same edits the original mod's skeleton had, so it should all work fine without extra plugins or anything. Whenever XPMSE updates I will probably update the mod with it too, though I may take a while to do so.

Sure, I may take a look at it, shouldn't take much work. I would have to check out permissions first, though. Stay tuned.

 

EDIT: it's up as an optional download. I haven thoughly checked it ingame, but it should work fine and be seamless.

Yeah, as explained in the description I use UNP and since this was intended for personal use I didn't touch the CBBE version.

 

I'm thinking I may actually make a CBBE version, though. Shouldn't' take that much work either. The "sweaty/wet" speculars will probably have to be replaced by original-style shiny ones, because the current ones took me AGES to blend and they don't look that good, but apart from that everything else can be replicated.

You know what, you may have just hit the nail on the head on this one  :P .

 

I am going to start working on a CBBE version very soon, and it shouldn't take much work. IIRC I also have some modified files from SOS for Females for this mod buried somewhere deep in my HDD that I could upload here once I clean them, though I would have to trace back the resources I used to be sure I am allowed to upload them here. So, that means you can't be sure on the last one, but CBBE is definitely coming. ETA not available, though, so just wait for it.

What do you mean? There are three pics in the download section with male, female, and both a male and a female Sharkmer, so it should give you an idea on how they look. If you want to take pics yourself, sure, post them and I will upload them to the downloads section if I like them.

 

If you mean the CBBE version or SOS for Females, I won't post pics until I upload the files.

Alright, CBBE support is up!

 

As the description reads, download the main version for UNP and install the CBBE file over it. Specular maps are based on the original race ones instead of the "sweaty/wet" ones the UNP version has, and the clawed feet had to be removed because they were incompatible with CBBE meshes/textures, so the two versions are not exactly equal, but they should be close enough.

EDIT: More surprises! EvilReFlex gave me the OK to use some of his SOS files, so shark ladies can now have their own SOS addon. Download and install the "SOS for Females" file. UNP only for now, but stay tuned for a CBBE version.

Ah..one other thing, I'm just now noticing this...I don't know if it's something from my end...but it seems like there's some kind of...ghost hair on my sharkmer female's head, and it doesn't go away by changing the hair sliders. Would it be because I had a hair on her from the 1.0 version of this mod, and it 'tried' to carry over? And how do I get rid of it? Edit: It appears to be see-through at some angles which is why I call it a ghost-hair. This shows up even if I set her to bald or 0 on the hair slider.

Yep, that is one of the upscaled human hairs I removed. That is a vanilla "hairline" extra part that is added to the main hair entry as an extra. As I deleted the main hair entry, that part is now "orphaned" and can't be removed from your character. I'm afraid you are going to have to start a new game to fix it.

Alright, CBBE version of the SOS addon for Females is also up! Those were quite some fast updates, right?

 

Anyway, except for bugfixes or requests, that should be it for a while, because the only thing left in my list are hairs, and they take a lot of work but don't look that good at the end, so I'm not sure if I will ever do it. As the description reads, feel free to make requests.

not bad. they are a bit cartoony but, meh....i still like them. i like the way their feet look (no im not a foot fetish person. i just think they look neat and match the race). a few things kinda bug me though.

 

u cant use the bite in water (i know the game doesnt let u attack in the water but im sure its possible to change. goddam slaughter fish).

the light shine on their eyes is so intense that sometimes their eyes are just completely white.

they should really have a swimming speed buff

I also think the race looks a bit more cartoony than I would like, but I still like them (that's why I did this whole "editing" thing in the first place). Unless someone creates a new, more realistic head with all the required morphs and stuff, there is little to be done about it, though I'll probably see if I can get the textures to look more like actual shark skin and less like shiny rubber/plastic.

 

I also liked the feet a lot, and that's why I did my best to make sure they could be kept. Unfortunately, due to the way the meshes were set up, males and CBBE females were not compatible with them, but at least UNP females still have them. I do intend to improve on it some time in the future with better beast feet for all Sharkmer no matter the chosen bodytype, but nothing has been decided yet, so just stay tuned.

 

About water combat, it is not as easy as you may think. The game is all but hardcoded to NOT allow you to fight underwater. There is a workaround that involves editing animation behavior files and stuff that supposedly "tricks" the game into activating underwater combat, but it is incompatible with FNIS and difficult to set up, so I just forgot about it. If you are still interested, the Sea of Spirits mod has a link to said mod in its description.

 

The specular shine going crazy on the eyes is a known problem. IIRC I tried to fix it but I wasn't able to, though I will check it out again in case I can do something about it.

 

I think the swimming speed buff is actually possible, so I may include it in the next update of the mod (whenever that is).

For the female player, SOS will want to assign a schlong to a race if there is a addon that supports it. You can switch it to "No Schlong" in the MCM menu(the Player/NPC submenu), although if using the Follower plugin, they are probably going to have the schlong assigned to them, which can be changed in the same way in the MCM menu, if desired. 

 

You can also look in the specific submenu for the addon, which has options for probability, size, and the option to tun it off - most if these options are for NPCs, however.

Yeah, what Kuroyami said. Your character (and the follower if the plugin is activated) will be automatically assigned a schlong by SOS. If you don't want to have it, you can just go to the "Sharkmer Schlong for Females" page in the MCM and set the Probability to 0. Then, you can just set your character to "No schlong" in the Player/NPC submenu and it will be removed. If at any point you want to give your character the schlong back, you just go to the MCM again and select the Sharkmer Schlong from the list.
