Hardware compatiblity/performance reports

Recommended Posts

1080 ultra default with no mods. Played through the intro, saved and exited after leaving Riverwood for Bleak Falls. Ran ~50fps indoors and 45 outdoors until the sun started going down and the god rays went nuts - worst I saw was 30fps. Might dumb it down a notch or two and see what happens.

I don't have a system capable of running crazy graphical overhauls on the original Skyrim, so this game looks great to me (similar to PureVision ENB and 2k lite w/ SFO) and runs better too. Zero crashes or stuttering. Just can't wait for NPC overhauls to be ported over so they don't look like ghoulish meth heads.

All game settings maxed/Ultra, steady 60 FPS at 1080p (monitor limit). Ran OK on previous drivers, updated today to latest, seems very stable, No issues with GPU temp (low 60s, or watercooling low 50's)

Bring on da Mods!!

Ultra settings, Godrays High, 1080p - Opening scene around 24 FPS, outside Helgen cave 29 FPS, Overally it was a clusterfuck: 60 FPS then suddenly 20+ and on top of that I had random FPS drops in some places when looking at spot X from different angle.

I was shocked when I saw this, I've been running heavily-modded Skyrim (Around 140GB of mods, 100+ .esp's and an ENB) with stable framerate; avg. 45

I had to disable VSYNC in INI's and force it through Nvidia Inspector; This fixed my FPS issues, haven't dropped below 45 FPS since then and my FPS skyrocketted to avg. 60

For example outside Helgen cave I had avg. 29 FPS, after doing what I mentioned above I had 55 FPS outside the cave. I also increased draw distance by little and made some other changes inside my .ini's to get slightly better graphics, which did cost me around 3 FPS.

If someone is having the same issue as I had then HERE is quick tutorial I made on how to get rid off this problem.

AFAIK it also solves issues with low FPS caused by Godrays.

System specs:

* CPU: Intel i5-3570

* RAM: 16GB

* GPU: GeForce GTX 670

* OS: Windows 7 64bit

* Resolution: 1920x1200

* Settings: High

Runs at mostly 50-60 FPS, considering my computer is almost as old as the original Skyrim, I think that is a pretty good deal.

Just for extra info on what I am running, here is the mods I have installed:

* UNP BASE Skinny Body

* Fair Skin Complexion

* Feminine Argonian

* Feminine Khajiit

UNP Minidresses Collection

UNP Spice Gear Collection

Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch

Rich Skyrim Merchants 2x

Static Mesh Improvement Mod

Realistic Lighting Overhaul

Realistic Night Eye

The mods marked with * are un-ported mods

Edit: Would also like to point out I have not edited my ini files at all yet, but might look into it to be able to jump up to Ultra at 60FPS.

Performance is mostly solid there are places where i used to struggle with original 32bit game but in remaster i'm getting smooth 60fps there. performance does drop in some places to lower 50's or even lower but mostly it stays at locked 60fps.

Installed on HDD instead of SSD, but still loads quite fast. I guess the engine uses RAM more for loading now than the drive itself.

stable 75fps (monitor has been overclocked from 60Hz to 75Hz) no matter what happens.

CPU and GPU utilizations are all at 50%. With GPU occassionally peaking at 60%. This is with lot's of background windows open like Discord, HW monitoring programs, browser with A LOT tabs.

In addition I have a few mods installed, and have only had two crashes in over 24 hours of game time.

Defaulted to ultra settings, file hacked to 3440x1440 to do a FPS test. I normally play at 2560x1440 borderless windowed.

Most of the time my FPS stayed in the 50s or higher. The lowest was 42 and that happened when I was adsorbing a dragon soul in a forested area.

If I was staying with the 3440x1440 I'd probably drop a couple of settings, but at 2560x1440 I have no problems.

  • CPU: AMD FX-8350 (at 4.0 GHz, Stock speed.)
  • GPU: AMD 390X from MSi (at stock speeds)
  • Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z
  • RAM: 32GB DDR3
  • SSD: SAMSUNG 850 EVO (250GB) (This is the only drive on the system.)
  • OS: Windows 10 x64 Pro

The game runs smoothly, but has FPS drops (all the way down to 30 or more) when looking toward palces with a lot of models to draw (Outside Windhelm, The Rift, anywhere with tons of trees, etc.) This is on Ultra / Maximum settings.

You probably already know this, but just want to say: your problem there is the cpu. 8350 is simply too weak for 390X. By going just with Intel i5 6600K, you would not drop under 50-60's anymore.

Can';t afford it. And won't be able to for the next 5 years, so yeah.

os: 10(pro)

cpu: i5 4590 4 core running at 3.5

gpu: 980 ti 6gb running at ~1200

ram: 16gb ddr3 running at 1600

storage: installed on a wd black caviar hdd 6gb/s 7200rpm 1tb

reolution running at ultra settings 1080p. with a second 1080p monitor for chrome and stuff.

gpu:40% was the highest, on average about 25%

cpu: 25% was highest, on average about 15-20%

ram: varied, highest I saw was about 2, on average about 1.5

spawned 50 wolves for stress test

gpu:in the 30s never above 40%

cpu: max was 35%

ram this is where I got the max of 2, but overall still about 1.5

don't have anything for checking frames, but it has been stable and smooth the entire time I have been playing(since release), so definitely always above 60

ran an experiment a couple days ago. turned surround on. the game was smooth the whole time at 3440x1080 on 2 1080p monitors.

time to main menu: about 6 seconds, but most of that is the bethesda logo. the time between the bethesda logo and the main menu appearing is about .1 second.

load game time: about 2.7 seconds

load time: <1 second, with the exception of fast traveling between 2 locations on the over world. that takes about 2-3 seconds.

one big issue I have had with se is the game crashing if I don't close touch keyboard, apparently a big problem between 10 and se, for a lot of people.

Steady 60fps at all times :)

Around 35fps at all times outside, around 38fps inside : /

What part of my pc should I upgrade for a more impressive fps counter @3840x2160? RAM, CPU or Motherboard?

Why would you ever upgrade mobo for more perfomance in games. Upgrade GPU and CPU. only upgrade MOBO for a newer CPU like Kaby Lake coming next year.

Your problem is you went for a mid range GPU for 4k rendering, which doesn't match. The amount of VRAM isn't the only factor for rendering games at massive resolutions. You need at lead a 1070 minimum for 4k ideally.

Game struggling stay at 60 fps max out graphics. Drop below 45 fps turn around look into distance or looking around, but shot back up 60 fps in heartbeat. I use Geforce Experience fix my graphic option, 60 fps cap 90% of time except for rare 50 fps. No overclocking, no high performance.

I meant RAM or CPU & Motherboard... My motherboard supports up to LGA 1150 but I can consider switching to LGA 1151

Well that would be useless, because the jump from haswell/broadwell to skylake/cabylake isn't worth it and after that there will be a new socket so... just stay with 1150.

That's kinda weird you're having problems staying at 60fps on a CPU & GPU similar to mine, yet with less pixels being produced than me.

I'm hitting 110-120fps in game (dips to 90 if moving VERY fast or loading new area) with the following:

CPU: i7-5820K (OC'd to a flat 4.0GHz with a 40x multi, cooled by CM Nepton 120XL).

RAM: 32GB (4x8GB) Corsair Dominator Platinum 2400MHz C14 (XMP to 2666MHz C14).

Mobo: MSI X99A SLI Krait Edition.

GPUs: 2x EVGA 6GB GTX 980Ti SC+ ACX2.0+ (1100MHz Core/1750MHz VRAM clocks. Custom watercooling loop). SLI but game only rendering on GPU 1/Monitor card with VRAM contents being duplicated to GPU 2.

OS: Win10 Pro (Build 10240).

Monitor: Acer XG270HU (2560x1440, 144Hz max, set at 120Hz in NCP).

Storage: 500GB Samsung EVO 850 (S:SE installed here) + 4TB Seagate Barracuda.

A lot people reporting same problem just like me with very high to mid PCs, never thought happen me. :( Next step uncap frame rate. :D
