Ultra settings.

Runs like a charm, zero fps dips. Engine stability seems rock solid my end, hopefully something that'll last once modding takes off.

By the way Skyrim is a very CPU intensive game so I would think upgrading the CPU is more important  that adding more RAM, especially when you already have 8GB.

 

CPU shouldn't affect framerate at higher resolutions. We are talking about 4k and above. Easy way to figure what your system bottleneck is to use riva tuner/msi afterburner overlay. Check CPU load and memory usage at higher resolutions.

 

P.S. But for 4k you certainly will need more than 8GB RAM..

 

 

Yes, sorry, should have read the post more carefully that it is a question about 4K. Completely agree with you points. 

If somebody has an experience on how to run Skyrim (old or new) on 4K without long loading screens I would be very thankful to read about it. When I was making experiments with 4K I had no problems with the fps, but the loading screens took between 30 and 90 seconds.

I get a solid 60fps at ultra. Game isn't really that taxing on my gpu. With power efficiency off, gpu is at 1050mhz but the usage is all over the place.

Weird thing is the old skyrim work fine here @4k + mods (60fps) and the newer one fails @4k without mods...

Running SSE in full screen mode, everything ultra, as high as the options will allow. No mods yet, all vanila + its DLCs. I'm getting solid 60 FPS and according to HWMonitor, I haven't even hit 100% GPU or CPU utilization peaks. I'm not very far into the game, went through Riverwood and just got to Whiterun to see the Jarl. So no big battle scenes yet or anything like that. No crashes so far, game loads and reloads lightning fast from saves.

 

System:

 

Windows 10 (1607) 64 bit

CPU - i5 6600k - with very modest OC to 4120 MHz

RAM - 32 GB of Patriot DDR 4 running at 3000 (XMP 2.0)

Mobo - Asus Maximus VIII Ranger Z170

GPU - XFX RX 480 with 8 GB - factory OC to 1338 MHz - GPU drviers AMD Crimson 16.10.2

SSDs - 2x Samsung Evo 850 500GB

Monitor - Asus PB277Q, 2560x1440, 1ms response time

~ Intel Core I7 4790k @ 4.6ghz

~ 16 GB of ddr3 1600mhz ram.
~ Gigabyte geforce gtx 1060 G1 gaming / Gigabyte geforce gtx 1080 G1 Gaming.

~ Windows 10 home x64

~ 2x generic 1080p (16:9) 60hz monitors and 1x Generic 1050p (16:10) 60hz monitor.

~ Tested at 1920x1080 and 5040x1050 (surround)

 

Results (Tested fresh install without modifications):

~ 1080p stays above 60fps without a problem on both gpu's.

~ 1050p surround occasionally dips to 59/58 on the 1060.

1080 ultra default with no mods. Played through the intro, saved and exited after leaving Riverwood for Bleak Falls. Ran ~50fps indoors and 45 outdoors until the sun started going down and the god rays went nuts - worst I saw was 30fps. Might dumb it down a notch or two and see what happens.

 

I don't have a system capable of running crazy graphical overhauls on the original Skyrim, so this game looks great to me (similar to PureVision ENB and 2k lite w/ SFO) and runs better too. Zero crashes or stuttering. Just can't wait for NPC overhauls to be ported over so they don't look like ghoulish meth heads.

 

System:

 

Windows 7 Premium 64bit

CPU: Core2Quad 8300 @ 2.5 MHz

RAM: 8GB DDR3

MOBO: Stock HP (my next upgrade)

GPU: MSI GTX 960

HDD: WD Black 2tb

Win10 64 bit, Pro

 

All game settings maxed/Ultra, steady 60 FPS at 1080p (monitor limit). Ran OK on previous drivers, updated today to latest, seems very stable, No issues with GPU temp (low 60s, or watercooling low 50's)

 

Bring on da Mods!!

CPU: FX-4100 (3,60 Ghz)

GPU: GTX 960 4GB,

RAM: 8GB,

System: Win10 64 bit.

 

Ultra settings, Godrays High, 1080p - Opening scene around 24 FPS, outside Helgen cave 29 FPS, Overally it was a clusterfuck: 60 FPS then suddenly 20+ and on top of that I had random FPS drops in some places when looking at spot X from different angle.

 

I was shocked when I saw this, I've been running heavily-modded Skyrim (Around 140GB of mods, 100+ .esp's and an ENB) with stable framerate; avg. 45

 

I had to disable VSYNC in INI's and force it through Nvidia Inspector; This fixed my FPS issues, haven't dropped below 45 FPS since then and my FPS skyrocketted to avg. 60

For example outside Helgen cave I had avg. 29 FPS, after doing what I mentioned above I had 55 FPS outside the cave. I also increased draw distance by little and made some other changes inside my .ini's to get slightly better graphics, which did cost me around 3 FPS.

 

If someone is having the same issue as I had then HERE is quick tutorial I made on how to get rid off this problem.

AFAIK it also solves issues with low FPS caused by Godrays.

After making the ini changes suggested above by @IE33, and turning on VSync in the NVIDIA control panel, I'm getting a rock solid 60 fps.  Thanks for the tip!

Runs at mostly 50-60 FPS, considering my computer is almost as old as the original Skyrim, I think that is a pretty good deal.

Performance is mostly solid there are places where i used to struggle with original 32bit game but in remaster i'm getting smooth 60fps there. performance does drop in some places to lower 50's or even lower but mostly it stays at locked 60fps.

A really old Pc, and still the game run like a charm with everything at medium / hight settings. 60 fps caped inside, 40 - 50+ outside.

Installed on HDD instead of SSD, but still loads quite fast. I guess the engine uses RAM more for loading now than the drive itself.

 

stable 75fps (monitor has been overclocked from 60Hz to 75Hz) no matter what happens.

CPU and GPU utilizations are all at 50%. With GPU occassionally peaking at 60%. This is with lot's of background windows open like Discord, HW monitoring programs, browser with A LOT tabs.
