Adult Magazines of Fallout v1.0

Note: while this mod does add new items, there's currently no way to acquire them in-game without using console commands.

Adult Magazines of Fallout (MOF) is a collectibles mod that adds 53 brand new and unique magazines to Fallout 4.

It's designed to add adult-oriented collectibles with their own lore that properly fit in with the Fallout universe.

I'm still not 100% decided on how to implement the collection of these magazines yet. I have considered hand-placing them (like the vanilla magazines) but this would require many cell edits and that might not be something everyone wants. Suggestions are very welcome!

Without further ado... here's some of the magazines you'll be able to find:

Bombshell Babes (12 Issues)

index.php?app=downloads&module=display&section=screenshot&temp=1593

Bombshell Babes is a pre-war pinup magazine that released once a month for $29.99 each.

Due to it being in heavy circulation before the war, each issue is now worth 75 Caps.

It's a softcore collectible, and most issues do not feature actual nudity.

Commonwealth Hentai (12 Issues)

index.php?app=downloads&module=display&section=screenshot&temp=1594

Commonwealth Hentai is a post-war hentai magazine. Nobody seems to know where they come from or who's drawing the art inside.

Due to the relative difficulty of finding printing presses in the Commonwealth, there aren't too many of these, so each issue is worth 100 Caps.

It's a hardcore magazine that features plenty of Commonwealth beasts. Probably one to hide from the kids.

Vault Porn (7 Issues)

index.php?app=downloads&module=display&section=screenshot&temp=1595

Vault Porn is a short-lived pre-war magazine authored by Vault-Tec in a bid to capture every market imaginable, and it sold for an eye watering $49.99 per issue.

Only 7 issues were printed, and the high original asking price meant not many were sold. Due to this, each issue is worth 150 Caps.

It's a mix of soft and hardcore images, with the common factor in all of them being Vault-Tec's very own Vault Girl.

Wasteland Fucking (10 Issues)

index.php?app=downloads&module=display&section=screenshot&temp=1596

Wasteland Fucking is a hand-drawn post-war magazine. Copies of this seem to be everywhere in the Commonwealth, and the original author intended it to be free.

This magazine is common, so it's only worth 50 Caps per issue.

It's a relatively hardcore magazine.

Zipp (12 Issues)

index.php?app=downloads&module=display&section=screenshot&temp=1597

Zipp is a pre-war "lad's mag" that was a pretty common occurrence in any household with a young guy living in it. Originally retailed for $29.99.

It was in heavy publication when the bombs fell, so there's still plenty of issues out there. Each one goes for 75 Caps.

It's all relatively tame topless models.

Suggestion for putting them into the world

pervy art collector quest, could have some wasteland porn junkie who discovered undelivered shipments or locations of other collectors who have complete sets. Could have some of those collectors want something from you (pose nude for them or use the praying anim to fake a bj like MMAppitizer) something along those lines. Obviously asking for a ton, but a man can dream.

Feel free to ignore this comment.

Haven't seen any but your screens, but you obviously put a lot of effort into this

I second this idea...

You could have them in Vault boxes, along with 300 Caps. Hidden in plain sight, eg. on areas that will take a little parkour to get to, or a jetpack.

I play a lot of Skyrim, and love Malkavs treasure hunt. Which is the best treasure hunt by a long shot, and does the same thing.

On Malkavs treasure hunt, he even leaves really visible markers, so you know that a treasure box is nearby.

The Comics would need to be numbered, in their inventory names. So you could know which ones you have collected, and which ones are still to find...

I also second this idea.

Here's my take:

You could

  • create a simple quest where you have to collect some shipments (maybe one per Mag brand) for an npc (in the Green Jewel).
  • not create a quest, just place a note somewhere with the locations (same idea like before, just one location per magazine brand). It'll be more of a treasure hunt and you won't have to go through the hassle of creating a quest.

Anyway, great job so far!

Great suggestion, but I'll most likely leave anything like that until there's a SexLab-style framework available for Fallout 4. When doing some nice animations is easy enough I'd definitely like to do something like this!

The comics are numbered, so it won't be a problem to know which ones you need. Treasure hunt could be fun!

Yeah, I really like the idea of putting them as shipments where you get all of a particular brand in one go.

Love them all.

-snip-

just a few for the OP.

Awesome, thanks!

Isn't there any way to add them in the formlists so that they drop randomly in containers or bodies?

Hadn't thought of this. I'll have a look.

A replacer for the burnt comics?  Just random drop loot?  For now I would put them in a chest somewhere that s always a safe and easy way to get them in game. Almost forgot people should use ESP explorer.  http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16718/

That's an awesome mod, I hadn't seen it before. Definitely useful for mods like this one.

Would it be possible to add these to the workshop as Paintings or Posters. Each set, Bombshell, Hentai, Zipp, WF, Porn would have guides that would to found thoughout the Commonwealth. The Mags in shipments found at the same location, Say VP in Vault 111, Bombshells at Diamond City, WF in Gunners Plaza, Hentai in Goodneighbor, Zipp inside Railroad HQ. The Guides would open that "Set" in the workshop as Painting/Posters, the Mags in Shipment containers that would respawn. (in case I'd want mulitble copies)

mmm.... Something that wouldn't collide with other mods and prevent cell reset bugs:

  1. create a quest (run only once, start at startup)
  2. attach a script to that quest that add them at predetermined location

Locations should be building empty of any other collectable (vault boy/perk mag) and could be proposed by community.

I'll try to find some placements...

Only problem doing it this way is you could end up with multiple of the same issue and non of some of the other ones, in game the magazines are placed items, not random spawns.

Though using the radiant quest system could well let the be placed randomly for each issue, though not to sure as scripting is not one of my areas, armour/weapons and such edits sure, but scripts nope, looking at them gives me a headache :s

If you find some way to make these spread out across the game, whether dropped randomly or found at specific locations, I'll download it. But getting them through a console command isn't much fun. Someone mentioned adding them to the formlist so they drop randomly, is there a way I could do that myself?

For those who want it here is a esp adding the magazines to various pre-war containers as random loot, they should not be that common as the leveled list for each magazine is set to be nothing 90% of the time it pops, but each magazine has its own list.

Install simply overwrite the esp from this mod with mine; please note as there is currently no way to merge leveled lists, this may affect other things that edit leveled lists, though at present I am not too sure if it will or not.

I threw this together in the ck in about 10min, most of it was deciding which containers to add them to.

incorrect, FO4Edit has been able to make merge leveled lists for some time now. i currently have 8 mods all modifying leveled lists and they work together with no issues.

Ahh, was not aware of that, though that is mainly due to the fact most of my use of xedit is for skyrim where it does not merge leveled lists or at least it did not the last time I looked.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am looking forward to using this mod in my FO4.  Anyway, when I saw what you have here, my thoughts went immediately to Larry Slater and his publication  Lolipopz (at Nexus Quo Vagis (adult content so you have to sign in) by Belthan ).  It would be a nice touch to see the publication that I helped build in both the DC area and in New Vegas show up in the Boston area.

Anyway, just something else to consider.  I may try to play around with it to see if I can do it myself, but like many here, RL tends to dominate the days.

Getting the meshes and textures into fallout 4 should not be that hard or at least from what I have read it should not be, use the base game meshes for magzines, change the paths to point to your textures with edited records for the actual magazine names and such, change the textures to the correct ones for fallout 4.

Hardest thing I image would be the actual quest itself.

So great work both Varithina and a2b.  I really like this mod and the idea behind it. Finding little treats is great.  But the only problem I have had so far is I played the game for about 4 hours mostly in places I hadn't been yet and I didn't run into any magazines till I got to Abandoned Shack a.k.a. k21-b which I hadn't been to before. Unfortunately it seems every issue is inside this one location. I stopped searching to write this but my experience is that most of the desks I have come across have one or two of the new magazines.  Which the good news is they are in game and appearing as loot, but the bad news is that it doesn't seem very random.

Anyways that is my report. if there are changes to be made in the future perhaps ironing out the randomization would be good.

Thanks.

The items drop from pre-war containers, desks and such as well as bins, but its only about 4 containers and they are not used in many places, if you have nuka world quite a few of the bins and such have them, which kinda threw me a bit.

Check bins, paper outlets, and such they should be pretty common in boston itself, but I tended to get 2-3 magazines show when they did, when I get into my modding mode I intend to re-do the levelled lists to make it more likely you will only get 1 magazine, but will probably add it to more containers.

Currently though I am trying to ae a armour mod pack and not getting very far with it as for some reason the master files for armour smith extended are not getting added to the esp as masters, which is throwing out errors by the dozens about missing key-words.

Also if you wait long enough then areas you have gone through before will re-set so you might be able to find them there, it may also depend on your play style, I am a loot whore so I tend to grab everything, from everywhere, so I tend to find a lot of the magazines.

Though if you have other mods that affect levelled lists it might be worth making a merged patch from fallout4edit, and placing that at the bottom of your load order.

Thanks for the reply.  I don't run many complicated mods only really Body Swap and some other texture replacers so I don't think I have any conflicts.  It does seem weird though I opened tons of desks but only the desks in that one zone had them.  I guess there are more than one object that is a "desk". Here is a link to a picture of the type of desk 20160912154740_1.jpg .

Anyways, thanks for the great work.  Best of luck with the mods your working on, wish I had help to offer but I don't know much about modding.

I think you have to wait in game a day or two to make these magazines appear in other locations you have already visited. But I can be wrong

Link to comment

There is also a 90% you will not get one at all, but in my game I have not had many problems getting them, hell I sometimes get 2-3 different magazines from the same container.

Though considering how often I find them I am tempted to change that to something like 99% chance of not finding them, not decided yet, and at present scrap anything got updated for nuka world, so I just flattened nuka world red rocket and started building a huge walled outdoor vault there, so it may be sometime before I get around to re-doing the drops and level stuff for this, especially as my work week starts tomorrow, and goes on till sunday.
