Is our giggle really that different?

This is a stereotype I've never heard of, and now I'm absurdly intrigued xD

Okay. I'm one of these..........YES I WILL USE IT............."weird" people that is attracted to different people for different reasons. While I love different accents when people speak, I used to religiously talk to someone who was from Sweden. When her girlfriend and her would giggle, with their accent, just made it so cute. Just like when Russian's and German's or even British accents when angry, are sexy as fuck. I dunno, I don't really know how to explain it. e.o

Okay, I totally get the accent part. But I always kinda thought that giggles were more related to personalities. Which in turn could be influenced by accents I guess.Ā

Well, I was gearing more towards sound than the personality. I do agree that personality affects whether or not a person will giggle or full on laugh. However, the sound of a giggle for me, would sound rather Southern American. Now mind you, I do not have the accent with talking and when I try, I sound fake. However, when I get angry, it comes out fluently. Anywho, back to the subject at hand, yes, the accent does influence the sound of the giggle and I just think it's adorable as fuck no matter male or female.

Well, I melt when I hear French or British voices, so I can't fault you xD

Ā

Ā

I can't speak for all Swedes, but I'm pretty sure most of us are really self-conscious about our accents (At least I am lol)

I've spent the last four or five years trying to lose it, the result is that my English voice is now in this weird uncanny valley, where it doesn't sound English, but it doesn't sound Swedish either. HALP.Ā

Ā

I imagine most accents sound sexy when spoken by the right people, when spoken by a normal person, it sounds considerably less sexyĀ xD

Ā

I am still devilishly curious about this giggle thing now... I am looking like an idiot sitting here trying to giggle to myself and comparing it to YouTube videos now! Thank you Vivian xD

You are probably right. I just never really thought of it that way.

I always find it the opposite. People are never aware of their accents lol. Also, there is nothing worse than hearing a Swede speak bad English.Ā

My vocabulary is pretty good if I do say so myself! Heck, I'm probably better at writing English than writing Swedish, but my accents is a bigger mess than Moderaterna

Well, I can only really speak for me and the people I know! Whenever there were oral English tests in school, most of us would flat out refuse to do it if we could hear our own voices. The teacher arranged for some of us to wear earmuffs so we could avoid hearing our own painful accents xD

Ā

I still, to this day, refuse to voice chat with anyone under any circumstances! I really am that self-conscious about my accent lmao

LOL! And I know what you mean, I also feel much more comfortable and better using English than Swedish when I type. Me and some of my friends sometimes has literally forgotten certain Swedish words, so we say the English word instead.Ā

And English in general comes pretty natural for me, since I used to be a vocalist in a band. And sometimes I meet a friend of a friend who is English, so naturally we speak English to him.

There definitely is no accent when laughing or giggling. Weirdest thing I've ever heard/read. There literally is no way of telling what nationality a person is by their laugh or giggle.

I didn't say that now did I? You mistake the context of my words once again and I didn't say everyone has it either. You may either never noticed it or are around people who don't, some people actually do. However, it comes from the people you are around. However, not going to argue over this.

What did you say then? Cause I read exactly that. Giggling and laughing are individual per person not by nationality.

Where as a person's personality is depiction on whether they laugh, giggle or wheeze as some would say. A person's natural accent, [Unless they don't have one or trained themselves to remove it] can effect the sound of their laughter and giggle due to their native language. How words are pronounced with a person's accent can effect the sound of their laughter. So in turn, would the accent effect words more? Yes. However, I didn't say that it depicts their nationality. However, a person with a Swedish accent could be born and raised in say America and have a similar sounding giggle to that of a natural born Sweden. It's the sound, not the nationality. Reference point maybe, but the focus was on the sound and even in the beginning of the post, you can read that I stated it was the sound of it and how the accent effects the sound of it.

Ā

Quotes from the post you replied to:

" Anywho, back to the subject at hand, yes, the accent does influence the sound of the giggle and I just think it's adorable as fuck no matter male or female. "

"Well, I was gearing more towards sound than the personality."

Okay. I've met a lot of different nationalities and never noticed it. I still do not understand your explanation or reasoning. To me it doesn't make sense. Would coughing sound different too? Or sneezing? These are all natural sounds that people make and have no difference when it comes to languages. lol I would love to hear a French cough, a Chinese sneeze, Swedish giggle and Russian laugh

How many people have you heard have the swedish giggle? maybe they just had similar giggles as random people and not cause they were swedish? I am not being mean to you I swear. I mean none of this in a negative way. I would love to hear a recording of what you think is swedish giggle and hear it for myself to see how it differs.

Honestly, I could not explain it or even replicate it myself if I try. To me, it's one of those thing that can't be explained either way you look at it. Even my last post on the subject is the basic idea of how accents can influence a giggle. Sneeze's and etc just come the person? I mean, I know an American that sneezes high pitch due to the pitch in her voice. That's about it. Also, I wasn't trying to be mean either. It seems we are at a impasse once again, stating valid points on the subject matter at hand. Like I said before to Cynical and Norraya, I can't explain it. =.=

@Norraya @Cynical Misanthrope Swedes have such good English though. Definitely best from that region. I live close myself.

We do speak quite excellent English in general. Weā€™re just too Self-conscious about it though, lol

Ā

I remember seeing some captioned porn picture somewhere and it said something about the girl being Swedish and not speaking any English, and Iā€™m telling you, that was the most immersion breaking thing Iā€™ve ever seen! ?

A 20 year old Swedish girl who doesnā€™t speak even basic English? Yeah...
