I'm planning on upgrading my motherboard to Asus Maximus V Formula LGA 1155.

I currently have an i7 3770k and I want to SLI my 970, this board seems capable for it.

Question is how much does it cost today? Any site ive checked are priced on its release launch at 290$ at 2012, Did the price change?

Its super costly today and newegg and amazon are asking for the release launch pricing of 289.99.

Which is weird, because I brought a gtx 970 thats brand new that only costed 8000php/170$ , compared to its pricing on launch.

Thank you.

The same will happen to your 970 as well. The prices will go up for those like you that wish to SLI their old graphics card to get some more performance.

In reality at this point... it might be cheaper (and more powerful) to go and get a single GTX1070. Which since you already have a 1155 processor and motherboard might be a better choice unless you are having problems with the motherboard. Provided of course the PCI express x16 x3 slots on the motherboard you currently own. That or if you don't mind AMD they are releasing their new cards which are cheaper and designed to compete with the new GTX10XX models. Then save for the next upgrade to be the core (Motherboard/processor/ram) which will give a massive boost (ddr4 and the new 6gen Intel processors   will be a very nice upgrade to your system :)) Wait to just right after the announcement of the new gen of processor / chipset for intel and then buy. This is the best time to get great prices on computer hardware. Just right before the next gen comes out. :). I know... I did just that. :)

that being said... I am running using a GTX070 and Fallout 4 and all the other more modern games without a single glitch or hiccup. (regular 1080p monitor ;)).

Hope that helps

what he said.....and here is another rub(because I went through this very thing!) I bought the new hero maximus alfa and a 6700k......it cost me less today than my sabertooth ,and 3770k two years ago......with memory sticks.........

A secondary option can be to find for used ones.

If you are OK with that. Example: GTX 970 for about 9 US dollars: on eBay.

That one is broken... It is only for parts. ;). However CPU does have a point. Refurbished and used are two places you might be able to get some of the hardware you are looking for however it also could be bad and even harm some of the equipment you already have. You are very tech savvy so I believe this is something of a very good option for you. Even if you get a bad board or GPU I am pretty confident you can diagnose it properly and keep your computer running.

Just be careful getting a used board. If you do use eBay and make sure they accept returns. I bought the formula with the armor that wouldn't post on boot but I was able to return it to the eBay seller. Luckily my local micro center had a open box R5E and I did a full upgrade. At this point like previous posters have said it's probably better to ditch your 970 and get a 1070. You didn't state what resolution or games you play. That makes a huge difference in what you should purchase.

Never ever, stick a used component into your machine......if it faults you could end up damaging other components in your machine and then end up replacing more then one component.

Try looking at this website it should be able to get you pointed in the right direction. You can filter it down by CPU socket and after you find one you want you can view websites which sell it.

You can even SLI/Crossfire filter as well.

https://pcpartpicker.com/products/motherboard/

Used this criteria on the site:

Manufacture: Asus

Socket/CPU: LGA1155

Form Factor: EATX (Based on your current upgrade board)

Chipset: All

SLI/Crossfire: 2-Way SLI Capable

Found these mobos: (All seem to be discontinued models though)

Asus Maximus V Extreme LGA1155 EATX 4 32GB
Asus Maximus IV Extreme (REV 3.0) LGA1155 EATX 4 32GB
Asus Maximus IV Extreme LGA1155 EATX 4 32GB
Asus Maximus V Formula/ThunderFX LGA1155 EATX 4 32GB
Asus Maximus V Formula/Assassins C3 LGA1155 EATX 4 32GB
Asus Maximus V Formula LGA1155 EATX 4 32GB
Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z LGA1155 EATX 4 32GB

As you can see its a good starting point for narrowing down your search :) then you can go do some in-depth research on each board.
