USLEEP, source of crashes?

Recommended Posts

Yesterday i "updated" my game to use USLEEP. I used a script to switch Masters in these Mods which require the Unofficial Skyrim Patch, so they have USLEEP as Master (there was only one Mod which had USP as Master).

Somehow i have the feeling that this was a bad idea, because now the game CTD's when i try to enter the Temple after completing the Bard's College Quest for Sisters of Dibella.

Then i dared to take a look into the Papyrus.log and found like thousands of errors and warnings (i haven't count them, but you can scroll a long time and see a massive amount of errors and warnings).

Most errors are from AFT, Submissive Lola and (how funny) USLEEP (xD) I found even 2 lines of SOS complaining that USP couldn't be found (and i can't patch that, because SOS has not USP as Master. No clue what effect it has on the game if SOS thinks that there is no patch).

Right now i think of going back to the "old" patches. Maybe someone knows whats going wrong.

Papyrus.0.log

And here my Loadorder (4 Jpeg's)

It's not the USLEEP that crashed your game but some mod(s) that are not compatible with USLEEP. :)

It's likely not even that. USLEEP essentially makes the same changes that the individual patches do. But it's likely that if he put it on an already running save game, that some of the IDs have changed and he ended up with references/scripts missing.

I'm talking from my experience. I'm not rejecting your suggestion, but saying that I had to uninstall some mods after installing USLEEP because they weren't compatible with that patch. And it wasn't mater if it were old saves or new game. Those mods didn't want to work with USLEEP and I had to get rid of them. After that, had no problem at all even with loading old saves. :)

What are the mods that gave you problems? I'm thinking of going USLEEP when I start playing in the near future again so the information can be useful to check if I do have those.

It's hard to tell now since it passed a long time when I "replaced" USKPs with USLEEP. And there weren't' many of trouble mods, 2-3. The only one I can remember at moment is "Expanded Carriages Service".

The best thing to do is open up TES5Edit and have it check your mods for errors. I did that and was able to keep my entire load order after making a few manual changes to mods. I also manually changed mods that had USKP and DLC versions to USLEEP. The automatic doodad wasn't around when I did it.

Good point. LOOT showed me also incompatible mods and Wrye bash confirm them too. :)

Oh, that was funny, according to TES5Edit everything was fine, no errors and LOOT said the same, but the Papyrus Log tells me that both programs "lie". SOS complains about the missing USP and USLEEP is unable to find even basic shit in Skyrim.esm (and i have the correct version of Skyrim).

Maybe i should mention that i use Skyrim Unbound to have a game without Dragons and Dragonborns, funny looking Wordwalls with no function and the guys in High Hrothgar are rotting in their ugly home xD

Maybe USLEEP doesn't like that (but the old patches have no problem with that at all)

Hum... I'm using SOS with USLEEP on an old (and long-life one, is was my fisrt char in Skyrim) playthrough and I don't have any problems. And in a new one, I'm using Skyrim Unbound for the same reason as you do and I have no problem either. So it must be something specific to your load order and mod list, that makes things go wild.

I have SOS and have no problems with USLEEP.

What I have found daunting about USLEEP is that before I activate it I have a rather sparse, and small Log file.

But once it is activated the Log file grows to a tremendous size. Near all of this is just warning's ( and as i understand it, many of them or most are harmless ), but the shear size of the log after it is installed, totally freaks me out.

I fully realize that you are not actually in the game until you see "VM is thawing", and you see this again when you exit or save, but I don;t like the expanded log size.

I use Unbound. I've used USLEEP since it came out. No problems. USLEEP does compatibility checks to see if USKP is also loaded (which it should not be), and it uses a papyrus call which will spam an error if the calls fails - which it should. So those errors are normal and expected and can be ignored.

I don't currently use SOS, but I did in the past with USLEEP, and it works fine.

Overall, USLEEP makes the game more stable. But, as others rightly pointed out, some mods don't play well with it, possibly because they rely on bugs it fixes, or for other reasons already given.

Put another way: you can safely assume that whatever issue you have, isn't caused by USLEEP - not directly anyway. :)

Hi, i was really pi ssed ..i reinstalled Skyrim about 6 times and still crashes after a few minutes. Today i gave it a last try uninstalled all mods including the USLEEP patch. Then started from scratch one mod by the other. To begin with i installed noble skyrim hd , lanterns of Skyrim, SMim and some body mods. I started the game and try to get ctd s  i really tried hard but the game was stable. Next i installed USLEEP patch and the game immediateley had some bugs.. like in Whiterun the water was flickering, and disapearing, and inside the inn the sound was destorted   you would hear some strange noises like hamering . Next i uninstalled the USLEEP patch and guess what

The game was fine again. Just for testing purpose i reinstalled the USLEEP and  again some strange problems... now

i reverted to the old patches and the game is almost CTD free..

OT: Why is everyone defending this USLEEP patch for me its been the cause of wasting hours of reinstalling ..

I dont like this patch  so must a lots of people.......

Sounds like you may have installed things in the wrong order... From what I understand USLEEP should be one of the first things you install.
