Is there way to stop the passing of time in-game?

`set timescale to 0` will stop the passage of time.

but it will break the game if you leave it there too long. a lot of things are time based. NPCs wont be able to cross load boundaries, things wont get cleaned, your save might literally bloat over the course of a real life hour. bad things start happening at around 5 and lower.
