Skyrim: New mods Same save?

Hello, I apologize if this is a stupid question (I really did try to find an answer somewhere else before asking!) But how does one activate newly installed mods on an "old" save. (I just installed a few mods and dont want to make a new save, but it doesn't matter what they are as this is a basic functionality issue) The mods are nothing major at all just basic changes in terms of mods, but it seems like skyrim isnt even trying to load them (no results for items added by them in console search)

Make sure plugins are activated (check Data Files in Skyrim launcher, or in your mod manager).

Yeah im aware of both of those, ill start up skyrim launcher, uncheck, close and recheck them and try again, maybe its just not actually recognizing that their checked off or something.

What mod manager do you use? If you use NMM try checking them in NMM, it can be bugy sometimes.

so I exited and before I could even do anything to try I accidentally started it up again with skse without thinking, this time getting ctd, I literally changed nothing and now its ctd before main menu, no idea what to do now

Ctd before main menu usually indicates you are missing master. Run TESV Edit, it will probably tell you what you're missing.

fixed that, no idea how I ran without the esm before or if it deleted itself somehow, fixed and going to try this again. Is there no command for making the game check for new mods?

Not that I'm aware of, but then again, I'm no pro at modding, I just somehow manage to make my game always work with a whole bunch of mods.
