It's a cool addition (in theory), and the concept is interesting... but why is it such an integral part of the game? Why do I got to make every settlement livable for them? Why do I have to defend their homes? Why can't the settlers expand on their own settlements, instead of relying on some do-gooder twat to just show up and do their fucking job for them?

Check out the newest expansion from Sim Settlements from Kinggath and team. It does exactly this according to the video (I havent tried it as it literally just was released)

People pushing to end free speech. Even if the message is one you hate if you end their right to speak instead of debating them with truth to prove them wrong, sooner or later someone will hate what you say. Bad ideas can lead to good ideas through reason and very often do. Censorship hurts everyone, calls for physical violence notwithstanding of course.

Help fight off some raiders or something first with a team of people etc, etc. fine. Being able to set a corner of the settlement for your stuff and such... great. But making all the beds and telling each and every person what job they have to do etc etc. That gets boring quite fast. Making it a requirement without some sort of automation is bad and an lost opportunity for the publisher to create some flexibility and interesting options for the player. I guess they figured they didn't want to spend the time on this and if it was wanted... well.. some modder would do it. ;) Damn Bethesda! The time our mod authors have is needed to fix the horrific bugs you leave in the game and creating naughty bits

Fallout 4's settlement system... just gimme house and city mods, fuck spending 3 hours trying to build Sanctuary into something "decent".

I dont hate it, i find it the only redeeming factor in that abomination of a game ( when modded of course ).

What i hate about it is the usual level of halfassedness Bethesda put into that feature - no bearing on the plot, no bearing on the gameplay ( no special ending if you make few great cities, producing anything is pointless because there is soo much loot everywhere you will never run out of shit like ammo, meds or rads etc ), instead of few BIG zones that you can go wild with and build anything you like you get many small building zones that you cant really do anything with beside building a small shack, few beds and basic farm plot/water fountain etc.

What I hate about that the most is the requirement for you to micromanage the dam settlement after you did build some shitty shacks and beds...

The erosion of knowledge normally handed down through word of mouth, apprenticeships, parenting.

If I wanted to learn to mod, I'd rather have someone I can speak with than spend hours looking at instructions that may or may not answer something a person can. I value the forums for this alone. Everything else is dessert.

Don't get me wrong. The written word is very powerful and is necessary to build a library of knowledge. But without human interaction, well, it reminds me of a scene from the time machine.

I imagine being sent into the past, with all this knowledge, and realizing, "knowing that knowledge exists, isn't really knowledge at all unless you understand it".

Finally, my point is without this type of communication, we are only left with continual revisionist editions of established knowledge that could be flawed for a multitude of reasons, but ultimately fail in passing on the truth.

Amen to that.  I want to explore, meet strange people and creatures. And on occasion shoot them or sex them up.  And explore all those stories.   Just give me a nice, pre-built player home that doesn't look like a hobo lives there - maybe I can kick the people out of that neat house in the quest "Emogene Takes a Lover"  But Fallout 4 unfortunately falls pretty short of the awesomeness of a modded Skyrim game.  Pretty far short..imho.

The Bethesda Problem. I know the video is really long-winded, but it does touch on a lot of the things that scare me about what we're saying to video game companies. And how a lot of us, myself included, are/were part of the problem. I'm trying not to be cynical about the future of video gaming but it's hard when I see things like Skyrim Switch whose only real edge over past versions is...console mod support! :classic_angry: Really? BS is still touting a game that's six years old and looks twice as old graphics-wise? And sheeple keep buying their crap? Am I evil because I want to get access to the Big Red Button and aim a tactical nuke at Bethesda, Maryland by now?

What really pisses you off?

Well how about unsafe technology. We all paid much only to have it spit back into our face that things we use is just not right. Pc, laptop mobile phone now this thing is so unsafe why do we still use it.

With specter and meltdown i wonder what other crap they been hidning all these years. Maybe the 2nd world war never happened.

Okay, this really pisses me off: bile reflux attacks. If you've had your gall bladder removed for whatever reason, sometimes bile backs up into your stomach where it definitely does not belong. Imagine the worst nausea of your life, coupled with sulfurous burps, gas that just won't leave your system, and bitter yellow vomit, that can lay you out for two to three days as your entire gastrointestinal tract works to purge everything inside one way or the other.

Which leads me to the other thing that pisses me off: when it takes three-plus weeks to see a specialist doctor because they're already so busy. And when they don't even call you about an MRCP you had back in September and their medical assistants never return your calls when you call them about it.

DAY -MONTH -YEAR

THAT IS THE INTERNATIONAL STANDARD!!!

Technically the international format is YYYY-MM-DD

I support these two formats because from a logical point, they are both correct. The difference is to me, from which end you start reading i.e left to right or right to left.

But format MM-DD-YYYY or YYYY-DD-MM is just incredible stupid and makes no sense what so ever.

When people steal your assigned parking... makes me want to put nails behind their tires, but I know that'd just lead to trouble.

Only if you are caught ;)

They deserve it unless they asked first. (for an emergency etc)

I have an issue with people using the handicapped parking as well when they are perfectly healthy. Blocking driveways, exits and other locations when they can't go anywhere.

Parking specifically designated to my apartment number... pretty sure catching the culprit wouldn't be to difficult.

I was talking about if you put nails behind their tires... not finding the asshole that parks in your parking space.

That sucks by the way. Shame there isn't some other recourse that you could take. I know the manager of my building (however other location from where I live, my current location they can't park in unauthorized location, it is a remote access  ) will call to have that shit towed if someone unauthorized (even a tenant) parks in the wrong spot. She has done that to people in the pass and .. omg does that really piss them off lol. This place is open access.
