For awhile it seems now I have been collecting mods for Skyrim of various kinds. Unfortunately due to a completely stupid error on my part, I have just screwed myself over, and have to reinstall everything. Because of this I sifted around the nexus and these forums for about 4 hours now finding my favorite mods from my previous setup. many of these mods are simply to make the game's outward appearance more realistic or effective, many of them were to include sex mods and addons, and many still were a matter of "that thing is totally cool".

 

I am posting this here because I am intending on downloading these mods again and making them into my own modpack, to my benefit if I ever lose everything again. I wish to gauge interest here on whether or not people would be interested in said modpack as a download (If it is even possible? I am not sure what the upload size for this site is capped at, nor do I know if external downloads are allowed).

I did not ask for the various authors' permissions, however I don't intend to alter their work in any way, this would merely be a convenience, and I have in fact cited them all, albeit quite informally.

 

Let me know how much, if any, interest there is in the matter.

 

Lastly, though some of these mods have primary versions which do require dawnguard (marked by "!"), I would be using non-DG versions (found on the same pages). Both because I lack the DLC, and because, should I upload said pack, more people could use it.

Setting aside whatever rules on sharing other authors' work this might involve (not really sure), a few of the mods you have listed are relatively old and were made pre-CK, and likely produce errors of some type.

 

In particular "Under the Influence" is questionable.  (May be perfectly fine, but I'd look into it.)

 

Beyond that, thanks for sharing this list.  A few mods on there I was unaware of.

You are very welcome. I never had any issues with "Under the Influence" by the way.

 

almost all of the issues that I have had have come about because mod A and mod B only work if you install them in the order of AB, except I didn't know A existed until after I had installed B. Mostly Compatibility stuff. There are so many mods here though what I intend to do if I decide to upload this pack when I am done, is I am going to make the entire pack for me to use and test and tweak, but I would upload the pack in parts, that way anyone using it can let me know about incompatibilities or issues AS I add the mods to it.

 

again, I must stress though that I would not/am not claiming any of the mods here, as demonstrated by the fact that I have collected and cited them all BEFORE I have even begun downloading them.

Mods made pre-CK are unlikely to cause any errors because there is not scripting involved. They are/were texture/model replacers which would still work just fine. Or thats how ive understood it :P

While I don't mind people advertising their mod manager of choice, I'd prefer that it be done in a way that doesn't involve calling everything else trash.  

 

By comparison they are though because they install directly to the data folder and can end up overwriting files which in a mod heavy environment can lead to all kinds of difficulties.  MO installs each mod to it's own folders and when you have a conflict between two mods to update a single file you can not only control which one wins that contest, you can change your mind and a different mod win if you discover you need to change. 

 

Removing a mod with MO takes it completely away (except of course the parts hung in the "save game") cleanly and without removing parts of other mods and without leaving any surprise bits behind that may cause conflicts later.

 

Add in features like profiles and you have a manager that is more than a single level above the competition.

 

Then you look at Nexus Mod Manager and see bugs they know about being recognized but going unfixed (the "readme" bug in particular) even though there are several possible fixes none of which would be difficult to implement and you realize that NMM is completely outclassed.

I use Wrye. 

 

WB shows what mod conflicts what other mod in the conflicts tab, and reorganizing the mod packages will allow you to change how files are overwritten.

 

Unistalling a mod in Wrye removes the associated files to that package whilst excluding files that are overwritten by packages that are higher in the installation order. There is also a tab that shows files that are skipped during package installation for whatever reason (.exes like FNIS) so you know exactly what "extra stuff" you have.

 

Profiles are useful for people with multiple saves using different mod loadouts, that I agree. But I don't do that, so I see no need for it.

 

There are a lot of other nifty features I could talk about, but I'd prefer that this doesn't turn into a mod manager war.

As far as posting a mod list with links like you did here, I  don't think you would need permissions for that. for posting a mod package the file size would most likely be way to large and you would definitely  need permissions from all the authors. A warning about one of the mods on your list called evil lair of the hydra, it's very old, it hasn't been updated since 2012 as far as I know. I have installed it 3 times to try and get it to work properly and each time ended in disaster namely ctds broken animations, corrupted saves,  and the list goes on. I normally refrain from posting negative comments on mods but I feel as game breaking as this mod is, It was needed. I would not recommend using it  to my worst enemy

 Well, Templar01, lemme put it to you this way....what you did is probably not as stupid as....well, your "first" time dealing with what you did might make you seem. I've had many diverse and numerous ways in which I've totally discombobulated my skyrim installations, game saves, .ini files, enb setups, or general playability of the game which the end result is usually a frustrated me uninstalling everything with this grand design to reinstate the game installation to it's former glory....And, I assume that many skyrim players have experienced this setback or a similar very problematic situation. Or maybe I'm just the king of such things and all need bow to my innate ability to overlook things that I should already be aware are going to be problematic....either way, I would probably end up snagging such a compilation. I have tons of mods archived from when ive first started playing the game and many if not nearly all you listed i generally play at one time or another and having them all together in a single archived file will definately help during installation and basically has been something i've very supremely procrastinated upon doing myself for who knows how long now. so....to sum up info you care about...... GermLoc = +1 Interest for your inquiry   =)

I don't know what this guy was trying to accomplish.Most mod authors are dead set against mod packs.There was one made where mods were used without authors permissions and it set off quite a stir.So I would advise against anyone trying to put one together and advertise it to other players.

 

There is a group headed by Mator putting together something they call Mod picker :

I have recently deleted all my mods upgrading my computer and couldn't find a beginners guide that listed all the mods needed and options available.  I can use this list...it looks pretty comprehensive.  

 

do you have a recomended installation order for prerequisites and what not?

I did not ask for the various authors' permissions, however I don't intend to alter their work in any way, this would merely be a convenience, and I have in fact cited them all, albeit quite informally.

 

Let me know how much, if any, interest there is in the matter.

 

Lastly, though some of these mods have primary versions which do require dawnguard (marked by "!"), I would be using non-DG versions (found on the same pages). Both because I lack the DLC, and because, should I upload said pack, more people could use it.
