Hello Monsto,

 

First things first: thank your for all your guides, your contribution to the modding scene and this particular thread (that adds a new feature to the game and might have a serious impact).

 

The most impactful of all of these will be source material. I just simply do not have the time to cruise thru hours of porn or teenage titty flicks looking for varying areola. If I could get a few people surfing thru their collections and snap some shots, I would be very grateful. That's the kind of thing that absolutely gets a credit listing.

 

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures or resources to share (other then those Google will show the world), but I have a question: if you're looking for those high-res data, why not ask the people who created the skin textures for Skyrim? Wouldn't it be easier to modify / combine existing material, rather then create something new from scratch?

 

Just a noobish question - but maybe it has some benefit to the cause.

To answer your question, that's kinda the point. An original means to customize your character in a different way. By surfing the net and grabbing a bunch of different types, we can both be assured of uniqueness.

Yeah it's coming along.

 

Really, only thing I needed to do was figure out exactly what I'd need to do to get things 'straight' or as undistorted as possible. I've got a manual method figured out and am working on a 'better' method. 

 

All goes well, I should have a release with say 5 options by end of w'end, but don't hold your breath. 

 

Here's a pic of the overlay method. Overlay to cover existing areola, overlay areola. I like em dark, but you can tint em whatever color you want.

alright so i've streamlined a method. Therefore, making sources fit should be muuch easier now. 

 

Originally, I thought I'd only be able to have a specific skin to use, but I've added an overlay that will "blank" out the area. You'll have to do some color matching, but it's not hard and works well.

I should probably add a flat normal map to the blanker. even without it, it still works well as a base for the choices.

Anyway, I'm going to have a selection of several types (prob 5-8), in varying sizes, and an eclectic collection that I think will be cool.

If anyone is still paying attention out here, do you think it's too much to break it down more ala carte? so far, i have nipples and areola and bumps and other stuff broken out as separate pieces. I mean you don't HAVE to do it like that. You could just pick a nipple/areola, slap it down and be done. But with the way I have it done now, you could feasibly use all the body overlay slots just building the perfect cap on the cones.

If i got what you said:

More options are always better, stacking multiple options just to get the perfect nipple is more than acceptable. more is better!

Why not launch what you got running stable and still looking satisfactory for you? If feedback is good, you can still expand the project. If you feel like it, of course.

If there should be no demand or feedback, you can still throw the idea over board. Difficult to say, what's your expectations with your project. Better to take a break while still in the track before breaking down completely.

But to answer your question: I'm pretty sure that quite some people would like to see your work going online. Even if feedback on this thread is "a bit" slim.

I tend to agree. Fortunately, with the "Racemenu Mod Maker" mod it's dog-ass simple to add expansions.

 

I think the first set will be some standard looks. I've settled on 4 different sizes (sm, med, big, blam lol) on prob 3 different areola, with separated nips and a couple of 'accoutrements'. They could porobably use a normal map togive some depth, but it's not completely necessary. The next set will be . . . i dunno what to call it. . . oddities? I have some ideas for tape, paint and other patterns. And the bonus is that, thanks to racemenu, you could feasibly use an areola with an accoutrement and the 'oddity' on top of it.

 

Once i got started and settled on a system, the possibilities became really clear.

 

Thoughts about what to call the expansion would be nice. Oddities doesn't quite fit. Oh and Ima change the name: Either "Nip Kit" or "Tit Kit" is going to be the release name.

Based on your mod, would it be technically possible to add an areola-texture with piercings? Maybe even with HDT support? That's just an idea, and I don't know whats already on the "market", but is it possible that your mod could make all previous piercing-mods obsolete? I mean, with your mod there would be no problem with clipping or hovering items, as it is part of the same texture. Or am I wrong?

For the name.. "nipple gate" is probably too mainstream. Ever heard "Neaty greety"? It's a catchy phrase. I'm not a native speaker and not "knee-deep" in English culture, but the name might acually fit. In a way. "Peek-a-boo" or some derivation would also be quite catchy. If you are familar with football you know "la ola" - how about "la Are-ola"... yeah... I know... that's... well, like the "Be-sharps". Get's less amusing every time you read it.

Let me try to re-formulate my idea: is there a way to create a mesh with a pierced nipple (with a real hole in it) to use with some sort of blender or as a bodyslide preset (as a plug-in for the most popular tools e.g.)? Since Monsto Brukes is the first one to create an overlay-texture for the areola and the nipple, he also might create a texture with a piercing-look. Therefore this would be the first project / mod to add an "immersive" piercing to the game. And the piercing from compatible mods would always be aligned without clipping through the body.

It's just not a viable project imho. 

 

If the piercing shape is part of the body to facilitate overlays, you're going to have to sculpt it, design UV maps for it, then create a bunch of morphs to give people a choice of shape. A lot of work, and then you're releasing a new specialized body type onto a scene saturated with body types. It's just too much work for too little prospect.

 

The big problem that causes piercing mods to be so thin on the ground is that it has to be made to correspond with a specific body type. Even very slight changes in base shape, like different versions of UNP Blessed Body, will cause piercings made for one or the other to float away from the nipple or end up inside it.

 

So it's a horse before cart thing really. What you really need is a standardized base body with a whole bunch of really decent morphs to cover every kind of taste, then you don't have the issue with piercings becoming misaligned anymore. But there doesn't seem to be any room in that scheme for nipple piercing texture overlays when it's probably a ton easier just to do it the traditional way.

Thank you very much for the info and for taking the time to elaborate. I'm totally with you: there wouldn't be enough fans to put that much work in it. One can see on the nexus that piercing mods are not that popular.

 

Anyhow, I hope we kept the thread "pushed up" for other people to realize this great project exists! :D

not thru this mod, no. No plans for that.

 

BUT...

using something like Everybody's Different, you could place different textures per race as I plan on adding the .psd to the release. I've been better this time about organizing the layers specifically so I could put it up. I had quite a few requests for it last time, but it was laughably built.
