As they have the DMCA systems in place and running, in effect they're culling off any accounts considered in violation of their automated IP system. So this leaves only corporate, MPAA, BSA and RIAA users to access mediafail.

but but I am using a BSA :P

(5 werthers original to the person that gets my joke)

MediaFire...you were so great. You had no CAPTCHAs, no speed restrictions, no daily limits.

How the mighty doth fall.

I have only read (at this point in time), the first and 3rd page, one one thing i haven't seen mentioned, is something unrelated to actual content of the uploaded files: REFERRERS!

Such a service obviously would see, from which websites downloaders come from. So, if they wanted to ban pornographic content, simply doing strikes to people coming from i.e. loverslab.com, would do the trick.

Already moved most of my files. All that's left is a few choice archives, and a whole lotta images. Any ideas for a decent image sharing service that isn't imgur or imageshack?

I like to use tinypic.com. Simple straightforwards upload. No bullshit, no web 2.0 javascript crap, or bloated pages - just plain old images. But: i so far have only used them for non-pornographic content. So, i don't know how they would perform for this.

Now that I think about it, this would explain why all my files uploaded to mediafire are still intact. I pack my files into 7z archives with standard password, scramble file name and extension and add http://anonym.to/ to all download links I share. This requires end user to be able to follow download and installation instructions but result is well worth the effort - only one file deleted to date.

3 Words for Mediafire.

You. Fucked. Up

Only a matter of time before Mediafire shuts itself down, or is shut down due to them going whack happy with their ban hammer.

I may have an idea for image sharing : http://pix.toile-libre.org/ The source code is available ( http://pix.toile-libre.org/pix-1.1.tar.gz ) if you want setup your own image sharing system. beware, this can be really heavy in disk space used.

Another one bites the dust, might be old news, no idea. I had this link as a fav. in Firefox for filecrop with a bunch of UNPB stuff.

It seems that Skyrim Game modifications are now considered pornographic even if it is a Armor modification.

I used two browsers, one to show the page I was on with the UNPB stuff and the other to show the Notice I got after clicking on UNPB Silverlight armor.

This just boggles the mind.

Spoiler

What does pornography have to do with dis-respecting women? That's just silly.

I'm not sure which I find worse; their choice of files to remove or their apparent reasoning for doing so.

EDIT: I just got ninja'd seven minutes early. That'll teach me to leave the room before making sure I actually clicked the button.

Don't worry, zippy. We'll call it a joint effort.

Excellent question considering how many jobs are created by the industry; female actress becoming stars and the fact that women love porn too you know... Idiots!

Sorry, mine was more reactionary than intending to cause trouble.

On topic. That sucks, I dislike that a lot of the file sharing sites require a sign up or make me fill out a captcha of some description anyway. I'm not sure what the purpose of it is.

I realize that it's possible that my original statement could be misinterpreted, so I want to clarify that my objection is based purely on the faulty logic presented by the filehost; I pass no judgment on the possible quality of the argument were it to be properly represented.

Ok guys and gals, Ashal (isn't he Wonderful!!!) has added 7zip multi-part archive support from .000 to .009, to the forum download section.

This means we can now host larger mods.  The 1GB max via the ten 100MB multi-part archive files should just about cover everything.

Cheers,

Greg

Good. Just as one of my accounts got a DMCA from some little whatever called (blank) IP from Texas for a crappy 3gp video clip I uploaded a long time ago.

(and I did a search -- turns out there's hundreds of these trying to angle for money -- and wow, there's a Counterstrike skin that was DMCA'd by the same outfit, although it's remotely related to an adult site: http://facepunch.com...d.php?t=1173114).

blank means this outfit also sends Texan lawyers who sound sleazy like villains straight out of a Grisham novel.

I see my private server farm here perhaps being approached in the near future, the offer is still on the table Ashal. So far 4Shared is doing fine and I have had no issues with them, but I am careful to upload content that is carefully chosen and appropriately named.

I have had tons of bulk DMCA from this same outfit. It's a menace. I am all for hosting in dmca foolproof provider but it costs a bit more than I can shell out. Anyone for donations ? :P

i am serious, i can do it if I had the additional cash.
