Crash Cities

After a reinstall my game Is now extremely crash prone when in cities. I have absolutely no idea why. I've disabled mods, I've tried to fix my load order, but nothing seems to work. The game crashes whenever in cities. Either when going through doors, or even when I'm just walking around. My game also crashes sometimes when I'm in the wild for no apparent reason. How do I stop the crashing?

You need to take a hard look at your load order and weed out stuff like this:

Crowded Cities 15.esp

Crowded Cities 30.esp

Having both of these enabled can be causing part of the problem.

 

Also, you need to move LoversJoburg.esp up to where it belongs.

 

Move these two to the very bottom of your load order:

LoversAnimObjectsPriority.esp

 

Are you absolutely positive these are compatible with better cities:

Double check if only one or the other of these were supposed to be enabled:

Typically for plugins that have addons you need to have the base plugin first and the addons after it:

LoversBreakArmor.esp - I don't know what this is, nor why you need it. Lovers with PK already has the ability to break armor built into it.

 

LoversVoiceSSPplus.esp - another example of lovers plugins out of order. This has to be below LoversAdultPlayPlusforSSP.esp

 

All of your official DLC plugins should be up above Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp or you risk them breaking OOO.

 

Are these compatible with Better Cities:

I want to say they are not.

 

I see this: UOPS Additional Changes.esp but I don't see any of the other UOPs stuff. While you do NOT need UOPs with OOO, I don't think you can install just that UOPs plugin without the rest. Double check that.

 

Bashed Patch, 0.esp - you have this up near the top of your load order and it doesn't do you any good there.

 

Long story short, go get BOSS and run it, then reorder your lovers mods per the load order in the spoiler here: http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=6133

Just that will help you. Then weed out the duplicates and incompatible stuff and finally rebuild your bashed patch.

Are these compatible with Better Cities:

I want to say they are not.

 

RAEVWD does not recommend running both. I think it's only an FPS issue. I had both .esps and Better Cities for awhile before I knew better and didn't see a tremendous amount of crashing, but there was a huge FPS difference when I disabled those .esps and did not install the Imperial City architecture.

 

From the RAEVWD readme:

 

"The 2 ESPs included with the package provide additional placement of VWD information. Each one is entirely optional and can be left out to help improve performance.

 

RAEVWD Cities.esp covers all cities except Kvatch and the Imperial City. It places buildings and trees in their proper locations behind the city walls. This ESP is 100% module compatible with Open Cities (Classic or Reborn). It should not be used in combination with Better Cities (which now includes Open Better Cities) or you will end up with VWD duplication which will severely harm game performance when viewing a city from the distance.

 

RAEVWD Imperial City.esp places buildings and trees behind the walls of the Imperial City. It is fully compatible with Open Cities (Classic or Reborn). It is not compatible with Better Cities. Using it with Better Cities installed will result in a severe drop in game performance when the IC is in view."

 

Mad God - if correcting load order doesn't entirely fix the crashing you can also try removing your Oblivion.ini file from Documents/My Games/Oblivion (assuming you've tweaked it). I've been guilty of over tweaking that and suffering for it, although I seem to remember CTD on corrupt saves, not when playing. Just something I thought I'd mention.
