FootIK crash.

Recommended Posts

Why are people trying to fix the problem when you can load as many animations as you want as long as you load into an empty or mostly-empty cell first.

Like, yes its mildly annoying but on the other hand there are tons and tons of other things that cause crashes that can't be avoided 100% of the time.

Hey guys, I recently started a new game and everything was running smoothly. I started to notice that my when my character got assaulted by evil humans or having consensual sex with her husband that the men's feet were about a couple of shades lighter than the rest of their body. I ignored it since I wasn't having any real issues in game. However, I'm now having the foot.ik (.lk?) CTD upon continuing my last save. The very last thing I downloaded was Elven Dresses by Naihaan for CBBE because all I wanted was a pretty dress for my PC's wedding and apparently that's too much to ask for!!! (rant over.)

While wearing the white dress my character began to put her foot up on top of any piece of furniture she was standing next to like she wanted to be Captain Morgan or something. Would a dress really cause this problem? This is a "too many animations" problem isn't it?

So I've gone through this entire thread, tried the fixes and nothing is correcting the issue permanently. The ONLY thing that will let me continue playing is running FNIS then selecting Load from the game menu. If I hit Continue I CTD with the same error from CrashFixes.

Any new suggestions?

EDIT: I do NOT have any high heel skeletons or have any high heels in game. I don't know if the ballet or pony boots from DD count or not. I use the XP32 Extended skeleton. Never had an issue with it.

What is "Footik" anyways?   Correct me if I am wrong, but this issue only appears if the mod "Crash Fixes" by Meh321, is installed, right???

I ran into this issue and the popup said something about animations and after reading forums and Googling everywhere, I tired the Reinstall XPMSE and FNIS, which worked at first.  But it came up again a few days later and didn't work.

After I tried a plethora of different other workarounds, I looked for CrashFixPlugin.ini and it is in your (<your place for steam>\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Data\SKSE\plugins) folder.

Change to 0.  (as indicated)

; Info: Crash when game is trying to setup foot IK but there's a problem. Real cause is unknown but for me.
; So we will display a message box when this crash happens. Seems related to the
; StrCmp crash in BF2FB3, maybe. Try reducing the amount of installed animations.
; Address: BFECC1
; Solution: No solution from here, display warning with helpful tips.
IKCrashWarn=0

And that at least let the game go through after load.  Only happens on reloading certain saves... so it made me think about it.

Could it be, the reason it is happening is that at the time of the SAVE, there were "x + 2" number of animations active?

And when reloading the save later, because of the way some animations are setup to only run during active sessions, that the game save only loaded "x + 0" ?

And that it didn't jive with the save, so that throws CrashFix out of whack????

Is there a specific space allotment or reservation for animations?   what is the 'hard limit' to the number of ACTIVE animations, versus a check after the save is loaded that registers the same number?   Hmmm?

Anyways... fix for me was to turn that option off in Crashfixplugin.ini.

So technically there really is no problem? CrashFixes just flips out if I save and quit my game right before someone next to my PC is going to do something (a.k.a. an animation)? For instance the CTD that was happening constantly was in the trading shop in Riverwood. Camilla is walking to a chair to sit in, and with AFT, my follower is walking towards the hearth to stir a pot since he auto relaxes while I'm idle or am speaking with an NPC.

I've noticed that I've been getting this error mostly if I save indoors. But, if this issue is related to animations that are about to happen, well that sucks! I have a lot of mods that scan for things around my character that may or may not trigger events and whatnot. So if I quit and save and something is about to happen to her then CrashFixes will see that as an error?

I'll go ahead and turn off the option in the Crashfixplugin.ini and hope it resolves this damn thing.

Thanks, guys.

you use fnis?

the esp have 2 quests for a reason, whatever it is

those quests have priority 20 or 40, sexlab quests have priority 100, poser quests have priority 99

that priority thing that's to make the game load the stuff a quest need to work, before loading that quest

many are crashing because of that when they try to load a save directly from main menu

that footik thing, whatever it is, if crashfix detect that error, it shutdown the game

you no longer crash if you disable that check because the game don't give a shit about that error

if you forget to load fnis, you are in t pose

game don't give a shit if it can't load some animations (you don't crash if you are missing some textures, you just see purples meshes in game)

Skimmed through the thread and I find it weird that no one talks about incorrect ENBlocal and SKSE memory settings as a cause. I had crazy footIK issues even though I had low animation count. Tweaked my enb settings and got some patches and it got fixed. Unfortunately I forgot my settings and overrode them by installing snapdragon ENB and the crashes came back lol.... now I got to retrace my steps from 2 months ago

Well looks like I found my problem... for some reason using SSME D3DX9_42 gives me footIK crash. Using the SKSE preloader D3DX9_42 fixes it but crash fix gives me no memory fix error lol

If you find exactly how to stop this damn error, would you please be kind enough to share your step-by-step process?

I tried to turn off the option in the Crashfixplugin.ini but, I still CTD with no warning or error this time. This is driving me nuts.

I know you will probably be told it is OLD, but give a mod called Safety Load a shot.  It has helped me A LOT.

Obviously, Loot and FNIS... all the normal jazz.    I used to Freeze more than CTD, but since I put in Safety Load, the only issue I had was that Stupid Crash Fix popup about Foot IK.

I dont use an ENB, but if Safety Load doesn't fix it, maybe try this mod ENBoost

Many guys around here, including myself have already posted that crash fixes doesn't entirely "fix" the problem, it just tells you that the game crashes because of it , and the continue game no crash mod doesn't stop it from happening either, the only workaround here and it works almost 99% of the time is by loading the game inside an empty cell, you do this by typing in the console at the start menu "coc qasmoke", and then load the save you want.

Did anyone found a fix for this ? I've reinstalled FNIS/XPMSE and had XPMSE.esp at the bottom of the load order but the game still manages to find something to bother me and pop the error.

Honestly this bug is hard to reproduce. After getting this bug initially i did a complete reinstall and i haven't had it since. The best way i found to fix this is to do a complete reinstall of skyrim and all mods. delete everything.

Wow, that's such a brilliant solution - that would solve the problem in only three days! Provided of course, that it doesn't reappear after the re-installation - which it would, if the same mods were installed....OMG

BUT at least I found a workable solution: I did as recommended earlier in the thread and installed the "Continue game - No crash" bug fix:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/78557/?

And NOT ONLY did it solve the crash problem IMMEDIATELY (the game had started crashing with this error 50% of the time, but the crash frequency increased, so that my last 20 attempts to load the clean start save I'm using, resulted in a crash), it ALSO solved the error message I got from Sexlab (Sexlab framework). While before it would report that Sexlab wasn't properly installed, it now reports all modules, including the "FNIS for users behaviour" and the "Sexlab idles" that it earlier reported as uninstalled - as installed. So it seems the bugfix assured that the loading sequence finishes without a crash. Many thanks to the author :)
